20100061333 | EFFICIENT AND CONSISTENT WIRELESS DOWNLINK CHANNEL CONFIGURATION - A configuration for downlink signals in a wireless communication system, methods of configuring the downlink signals, apparatus for generating the downlink signals, and apparatus for receiving and processing the downlink signals are described herein. Downlink signals in a wireless communication system are reconfigured in series of frames, with each frame carrying a preamble that provides fast cell search and system acquisition. In particular, the preamble includes a primary preamble and a secondary preamble, where the primary preamble is common to all sectors in a base station and all base stations in a system and the secondary preamble is effectively unique to each base station, and may be further distinguished based on a sector basis. In addition, pilot signals are aligned with base stations to occur at the same time within a frame and the PN sequence values of the pilot signals are based on a cell identification an antenna identification, thereby enabling prediction of pilots transmitted by interferers or neighboring base stations from acquisition of secondary preambles. Also, the pilot bits are selectively assigned from a center of an operating band outward. Due to the pilot placement and pilot modulation, the scheme enables interference mitigation and channel estimation without knowing the frequency bandwidth, which is especially advantageous in broadcast channel systems. | 03-11-2010 |
20130128812 | EFFICIENT AND CONSISTENT WIRELESS DOWNLINK CHANNEL CONFIGURATION - A method of wireless communication including a base station transmitting a preamble including information indicating a sector identifier and an antenna port value. The base station further transmits a pilot sequence, wherein the pilot sequence and the location of the pilot sequence are based on the sector identifier and on the antenna port value. A base station configured to perform the method is also disclosed. A corresponding subscriber station configured to receive the preamble and pilot sequence is also disclosed, as well as a subscriber station method. | 05-23-2013 |

20090295630 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR POSITION DETERMINATION WITH EXTENDED SPS ORBIT INFORMATION - A method and system for assisting mobile stations to locate a satellite use an efficient messaging format. A server computes a correction between coarse orbit data of a satellite and precise orbit data of the satellite. A coordinate system is chosen such that variation of the correction is substantially smooth over time. The server further approximates the correction with mathematical functions to reduce the number of bits necessary for transmission to a mobile station. The mobile station, upon receiving the coefficients, evaluates the mathematical functions using the coefficients and a time of applicability (e.g., the current time), converts the evaluated result to a standard coordinate system, and applies the conversion result to the coarse orbit data to obtain the precise orbit data. | 12-03-2009 |

20100141523 | SATELLITE POSITIONING SYSTEM SIGNAL SEARCHING METHODS AND APPARATUSES - Methods and apparatuses are provided which may be enabled within and/or for use with a Satellite Positioning System (SPS) receiver and/or other like apparatuses or device(s) to perform a rapid search startup process. | 06-10-2010 |
20110125454 | IN FLIGHT DETECTION - An apparatus and method for detecting whether a mobile device is in flight based on sensor measurements from a 3-dimensional accelerometer are presented. For example, embodiments estimate a direction of gravity and non-gravity acceleration, separate this non-gravity acceleration into a vertical and horizontal components, then test the estimated accelerations to determine whether the mobile device is experiencing sufficient vertical acceleration to warrant an in-flight determination. | 05-26-2011 |
20120296603 | SENSOR ORIENTATION MEASUREMENT WITH RESPECT TO PEDESTRIAN MOTION DIRECTION - Systems and methods are described for measuring orientation of sensors associated with a mobile device with respect to pedestrian motion of a user of the mobile device. An example technique described herein includes obtaining acceleration information associated with the mobile device, partitioning the acceleration information according to respective detected pedestrian steps of the user, identifying a forward motion direction of the user of the mobile device based on the acceleration information and the detected pedestrian steps, and computing a misalignment angle between the forward motion direction of the user of the mobile device and an orientation of the mobile device. | 11-22-2012 |
