20090235425VIA FERRATA SAFETY SYSTEM - The present invention relates to a via ferrata safety system that improves user safety by increasing the reliable activation of the energy absorption system. The via ferrata system includes a harness coupling member, two fixed cable coupling members, and an energy absorption system. The energy absorption system is coupled to both the harness coupling member and the two fixed cable coupling members. The two fixed cable coupling members are independently coupled to the energy absorption system and to one another. The coupling between the two fixed cable coupling members is proportionally weaker than the independent coupling between the two fixed cable coupling members and the energy absorption system. This proportional weakness of the coupling between the fixed cable coupling members allows each of the fixed cable coupling members to act independently in the event that one of the cable coupling members is coupled to a point between the user and the energy absorption system.09-24-2009
20120297590MAGNETIC CARABINER SYSTEM - One embodiment of the present invention relates to an automatic locking carabiner including a frame, a gate, a gate biasing system, and a gate locking system. The gate is pivotably coupled to the frame including a closed configuration within which the gate and frame form a continuously enclosed inner region, and an open configuration within which the gate is pivotably rotated within the inner region so as to form an opening. The gate locking system includes an engaged state within which the gate is locked in the closed configuration, and a disengaged state within which the gate is pivotably rotatable with respect to the frame. The gate locking system is biased toward the engaged state when the gate is in the closed configuration. The functionality and operation of the gate locking system is independent of the gate biasing system. The engaged state of the gate locking system includes a releasable magnetic coupling between the gate and the frame.11-29-2012

20110138586WIRE-GATE CARABINER - One embodiment of the present invention relates to an improved wire-gate carabiner system including a frame, gate, and gate biasing system. The gate is pivotably coupled to the frame across an opening to form a continuously enclosed inner region in a closed configuration. The gate may be referred to as a wire-type gate in that it includes an arch and two ends. The arch is looped over a hook disposed on the keyed region of the frame in the closed configuration. The two ends are pivotably coupled to the frame at two independent gate coupling points on the pivot region so as to utilize the torsional rigidity of the gate structure as the gate biasing system. The keyed region of the frame includes a hook and a cover. The cover is oriented and shaped to laterally shield the arch and hook from undesirable couplings.06-16-2011
20110138587MULTI-CHAMBER CARABINER - One embodiment of the present invention relates to an automatically locking carabiner system including a frame, a gate, a gate biasing system, and a gate locking system. The frame and gate form a continuously enclosed inner region in a closed configuration with respect to the frame. When in an engaged state, the gate locking system is configured to automatically lock the gate in the closed configuration with respect to the frame. The gate locking system may include a trigger coupled to the frame such that the position of the trigger corresponds to the state of the gate locking system. The trigger may be positioned on an opposite side of the frame from the gate with respect to the inner region. The force required to disengage the gate locking system may be substantially opposite that which is required to transition the gate to the open configuration with respect to the frame.06-16-2011

20090125671APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR STORAGE SPACE RECOVERY AFTER REACHING A READ COUNT LIMIT - An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for storage space recovery after reaching a read count limit. A read module reads data in a storage division of solid-state storage. A read counter module then increments a read counter corresponding to the storage division. A read counter limit module determines if the read count exceeds a maximum read threshold, and if so, a storage division selection module selects the corresponding storage division for recovery. A data recovery module reads valid data packets from the selected storage division, stores the valid data packets in another storage division of the solid-state storage, and updates a logical index with a new physical address of the valid data.05-14-2009
20120059981APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR STORAGE SPACE RECOVERY - An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for storage space recovery. A storage division selection module selects a first storage division for recovery. The first storage division comprises a portion of solid-state storage in a solid-state storage device. A data recovery module reads valid data from the first storage division in response to selecting the first storage division for recovery. The data recovery module stores the valid data in a second storage division of the solid-state storage device. The data recovery module passes the valid data through at least a portion of a write data pipeline for the solid-state storage device without passing the valid data to a host device and/or without routing the valid data outside of a solid-state storage controller for the solid-state storage device.03-08-2012

A wedge assembly is disposed in each tapered portion to secure a cable to the body. A clip assembly is attached to the body adjacent the tapered portion of each of the passageways and is shiftable between a closed position in which the clip assembly is positioned to prevent an adjacent one of the wedge assemblies from exiting the corresponding passageway and an open position in which the adjacent wedge assembly is insertable into the tapered portion of the corresponding passageway.01-22-2009
20090180841Low Profile Mine Roof Support - A low-profile mine roof support device comprises a roof plate and a barrel. The roof plate is generally flat and defines a through-bore. The barrel includes a head disposed at a first end, and a cylindrical body disposed at a second end. A tapered bore extends from the first end of the barrel toward the second end, and is for receiving a cable. At least one wedge is adapted to be received within the tapered bore of the barrel to anchor the cable thereto. The head of the barrel comprises a convex surface that seats against the plate such that a portion of the head penetrates the bore and intersects the first and second planes, thereby reducing the extent to which the support device extends into the mine without sacrificing the working length of the barrel.07-16-2009
20090245944LOW PROFILE MINE ROOF SUPPORT - A low-profile mine roof support device comprises a roof plate and a barrel. The barrel includes a nose portion, a shoulder portion, and a tapered bore for receiving a cable to secure the roof plate to the mine roof. The shoulder portion of the barrel comprises a convex surface that seats against the plate. So configured, a majority of the barrel, which includes the nose portion and the tapered bore, passes through the plate and into a drilled hole formed in the mine roof, thereby advantageously minimizing the extent to which the support device extends into the workspace of the mine without sacrificing the length of the barrel.10-01-2009

20090180840Dome headed roof bolt - A new bolt head design is disclosed and claimed. The bolt head has a radius between the shaft and the first side of a washer which spreads the shaft load more evenly to the washer. A concave dome is located between the second side of the washer and the driver of the head. These elements more evenly distribute the load, increase the bolt head strength and help prevent the washer, shaft and washer driver interfaces from failing when the bolt is loaded either in a linear or non-linear fashion.07-16-2009
20100034595Friction stabilizers and roof bolt head markings - A roof stabilizer for use in securing surfaces in tunneling and mining is disclosed and claimed. The stabilizer has a tube with a slot and a ring attached to the bottom end of the tube. The ring can have indicia on a bottom surface of the ring or a side surface of the ring or both. The location of the indicia can provide better indication of the properties of the stabilizer to the installer. The indicia is easier to read than that of the background art both before and after installation. The location of the indicia can also provide easer and quicker visual inspection of already installed stabilizers to verify that the proper roof stabilizers were installed. The location of the indicia lessens the likelihood that corrosion will remove the indicia making it unidentifiable. The stabilizer disclosed and claimed also allows the use of grout or an adhesive in the interior of the tube which does not cover up or conceal the indicia on the ring as opposed to indicia in the background art stabilizers. Also disclosed are various locations and methods for placing indicia on the heads of roof bolts. Such indicia locations and methods for placement also aid in the pre and post installation and inspection of roof bolts to provide easier verification that devices with the correct properties were installed.02-11-2010
