20100212405 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PIPE TESTING - A method of testing pipes for use in making subsea pipelines comprises cutting a ring from one or more pipes of the type used to make the pipeline; forming flat, substantially parallel surfaces on the ends of the ring; providing means for measuring strain and deformation of the ring; mounting the ring in a pressure chamber such that the ends of the ring form seals with opposing walls of the chamber to isolate the inside of the ring from the outside; increasing the pressure outside the ring and measuring the strain and deformation on the ring as the pressure increases; and using the deformation and strain measurements to determine a wall thickness for pipes to be used for the pipeline. An apparatus for testing rings cut from pipes for use in making subsea pipelines, comprises first and second test chamber sections which, when placed together define a test chamber for receiving the ring to be tested; one or more sensors for measuring strain and deformation of the ring; sealing means located in the chamber for forming a seal against the ring when received in the chamber; means for clamping the first and second sections together to form the chamber and engage the sealing means against the ring when received in the chamber to form a pressure resistant seal between the inside and outside of the ring; and a fluid inlet port in one of the chamber sections to allow a pressurised fluid to be admitted to the chamber outside the ring when received in the chamber. | 08-26-2010 |

20090053170 | HUMAN PROSTATE CELL LINES IN CANCER TREATMENT - Combinations of cell lines are provided for allogeneic immunotherapy agents in the treatment of cancer. Cancer vaccines generally have been limited to the use of cells that contain at least some tumour specific antigens (“TSAs”) and/or tumour associated antigens (“TAAs”) having shared identity with antigens in a targeted tumour. In such cases, tumour cells often are utilised as a starting point on the premise that only tumour cells will contain TSAs or TAAs or relevance, and the tissue origins of the cells are matched to the tumour site in patients. A primary aspect of the invention is the use of immortalised normal, non-malignant cells, in combination with primary and/or metastatic tumour cells, as the basis of an allogeneic cell cancer vaccine. Normal cells do not posses TSAs or relevant concentrations of TAAs and hence it is surprising that normal cells are effective as anti-cancer vaccines when administered in combination with primary and/or metastatic tumour cells. More surprisingly, a three way combination of cells obtained from metastasised cells, non metastasised tumour and cells from a normal cell line provided good therapy. For prostate cancer, for example, a vaccine may be based on one or a combination of different immortalised normal cell lines derived from the prostate according to parameters described herein. The cell lines may be lethally irradiated with, for example, gamma irradiation at 50-300 Gy to ensure that they are replication incompetent prior to use. | 02-26-2009 |
20120164099 | USE OF HUMAN PROSTATE CELL LINES IN CANCER TREATMENT - This invention is concerned with agents for the treatment of primary, metastatic and residual cancer in mammals (including humans) by inducing the immune system of the mammal or human afflicted with cancer to mount an attack against the tumour lesion. In particular, the invention pertains to the use of whole-cells, derivatives and portions thereof with or without vaccine adjuvants and/or other accessory factors. More particularly, this disclosure describes the use of particular combinations of whole-cells and derivatives and portions thereof that form the basis of treatment strategy. | 06-28-2012 |
20130017222 | HUMAN PROSTATE CELL LINES IN CANCER TREATMENT - The invention provides methods and compositions for the treatment of primary, metastatic, and residual cancer in mammals, and more particularly, the use of materials such as whole cells and derivatives and portions thereof to stimulate the immune system to attack cancer. | 01-17-2013 |

The methods identify myeloma samples having homozygous deletions in cell death genes, with dysregulated expression of 97 cell death genes forming a cell death expression signature, which is associated with poor prognosis in multiple myeloma. In a preferred aspect, three gene pairs, were found to provide a prognostic a “six gene signature” based on BUB1B and HDAC3; CDC2 and FIS1; and RAD21 and ITM2B (high expressors and low expressors respectively). | 12-08-2011 |

The arm can pivot as required relative to the item, to accommodate differences in shape in the item, whilst providing a substantially equal clamping force by both engagement members. | 11-12-2009 |
20110272537 | ENGAGEMENT ARRANGEMENT - Retention of position and clamping of components is ideally performed with an engagement arrangement which is reconfigurable. Magnetorheological (MR) fluids have been utilised for reconfigurable engagement arrangements but typically require powerful electromagnets to activate the MR fluid. By providing enclosed chambers with a constriction in the form of a passage between a reservoir portion of the chamber and an engagement portion of the chamber it is possible to utilise smaller permanent magnets acting upon a smaller volume of MR fluid in the passage. In such circumstances initial positioning of engagement elements is provided through forced displacement in the form of a plunger or pin and then retention of the engagement element position achieved through positioning a magnetic field across and about a passage to create an effective block retaining MR fluid volume and therefore presentation of the engagement element. In order to achieve such performance MR fluids which have an appropriate performance and durability are necessary. In such circumstances in accordance with other aspects of the present invention particular magnetorheological fluids are also described. | 11-10-2011 |

The method comprises receiving a wireless signal timed according to a first frequency; generating a local signal timed according to a second frequency; and performing a plurality of synchronization searches, each search comprising obtaining a set of correlation results indicative of a correlation between the wireless signal and the local signal at different timing offsets of the wireless signal relative to the local signal. The method the no comprises finding a series of results, with a result from each of a plurality of the synchronization searches, for which the difference in; timing offset between results from adjacent searches in the series is within a maximum specified value. A frequency off set between the first and second frequencies can be determined from the series. | 01-13-2011 |

20100198107 | INTEGRATED BLOOD GLUCOSE METER AND LANCING DEVICE - An integrated medical testing device includes a testing meter and lancing device, the meter having a housing, a display, a test element opening, a firing mechanism and a navigation mechanism integrated with a lancing device. The lancing device is at least partially located in the housing and includes a tip having an opening through which a lancet extends upon firing. Various mechanisms can be used to extend the tip from the housing and to prime and fire the lancing device. The lancing device can accommodate a single lancet or a cartridge having multiple lancets. If a cartridge is used, various mechanisms can be utilized to position an unused lancet for firing after a test has been conducted. The relative locations of the lancing device and test element opening are such that the integrated meter and lancing device can be used with a test element inserted in the test element opening. The integrated meter and lancing device can include status indicators that reflect the state of the lancing device. | 08-05-2010 |
