20130272094 | ULTRASONIC MEASURING GAUGE - An ultrasonic measuring gauge includes a probe configured to be moved along a surface of a material to be measured, transmit ultrasonic waves to the material, and receive ultrasonic waves reflected from the material. The gauge also includes a processing unit and an input unit. The processing unit is configured to operate according to one of two different modes of operation based on an input received by the input unit. In a first mode of operation, the probe determines the thickness at portions between the first and second locations on the surface of the material at which the probe is coupled to the material regardless of whether the probe is continuously physically coupled between the two locations. In a second mode of operation, the processing unit determines a corresponding thickness of the material at each portion between two locations when the probe is continuously physically coupled between the two locations. | 10-17-2013 |
20140192346 | APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CHARACTERIZING A REPLICA TAPE - An apparatus and method are provided for characterizing a replica tape which has been embossed, compressed or cast on a surface of a material to be measured to replicate that surface. The replica tape is secured between first and second holding components such that a compressible surface of the replica tape is secured against the first holding component. A light source transmits light through the second holding component, the replica tape and the first holding component. An image sensor measures intensity of the light respectively transmitted through at least two measurement points of the compressible surface of the replica tape. A processing unit converts the measured light intensity transmitted through the at least two measurement points into at least two data values each respectively relating to a measurement statistic of the replica tape at a corresponding one of the at least two measurement points, respectively. | 07-10-2014 |
20140278257 | PROBE COMMUNICATIONS MODULE AND A COMPUTING DEVICE - A probe communications module interfaces with an interchangeable digital probe to transmit measurements to a computing device so that the operator may conveniently gather measurements using the interchangeable digital probe and, using the computing device, display, annotate, compare, and analyze the measurements. | 09-18-2014 |

20100208941 | ACTIVE COORDINATED TRACKING FOR MULTI-CAMERA SYSTEMS - A method and system for coordinated tracking of objects is disclosed. A plurality of images is received from a plurality of nodes, each node comprising at least one image capturing device. At least one target in the plurality of images is identified to produce at least one local track corresponding to each of the plurality of nodes having the at least one target in its field of view. The at least one local track corresponding to each of the plurality of nodes is fused according to a multi-hypothesis tracking method to produce at least one fused track corresponding to the at least one target. At least one of the plurality of nodes is assigned to track the at least one target based on minimizing at least one cost function comprising a cost matrix using the k-best algorithm for tracking at least one target for each of the plurality of nodes. The at least one fused track is sent to the at least one of the plurality of nodes assigned to track the at least one target based on the at least one fused track. | 08-19-2010 |

20120096869 | UTILIZING HEAT DISCARDED FROM A GAS TURBINE ENGINE - Various embodiments are disclosed to utilize various fuels, including liquid natural gas fuels, to improve engine efficiency in gas turbine engines. In one configuration, a fuel is heated by a heat exchanger utilizing waste exhaust heat of a gas turbine engine. In another configuration, LNG fuel is heated using a pre-cooler for the inlet air stream of a gas turbine engine. In another configuration, fuel is injected into the pressurized air, downstream of the air-to-air intercooler. In yet another configuration, fuel is pumped through the engine's intercooler or a secondary heat exchanger exchanging heat with the compressed air stream between the low-pressure compressor and high-pressure compressor. In another configuration, the fuel is first heated by the intercooler and then further heated by a heat exchanger utilizing waste exhaust heat of the gas turbine engine. | 04-26-2012 |
