20090166289Apparatus and Method for Atomizing a Liquid - A trumpet-shaped slinger atomizes or aerosolizes liquid by lifting liquid from adjacent the surface of the liquid using helically oriented fins rotated by spinning the slinger on a shaft. The lifted liquid is centrifugally forced over an increasing surface area and ejected from an upper edge as droplets. When used in wastewater aeration, radial fan blades on top of the slinger break up foam and increase air circulation while the increased surface area of the droplets increases diffusion of dissolved gasses from the wastewater.07-02-2009
20090243124Composite Shaft Aspirator Assembly - A composite hollow aspirator shaft is formed of fiberglass-reinforced phenolic resin that resists abrasion and reduces the amount of vibration that is transferred to the motor rotating the shaft, and the motor's bearings to extend motor and bearing life. An aspirator tip is adhesively attached to the composite aspirator shaft and includes an access hole for cleaning inside the hollow aspirator shaft. The hole is in axial alignment with the hollow aspirator shaft and a selectively-removable plug is used to seal the hole during aspirator use. When the aspirator tip is rotated in a liquid, fluidic forces are transferred to the shaft where they are attenuated. A splined hub is used to attach a foam restrictor near the other end of the shaft. The composite shaft material has a flexural modulus, or ratio, within the elastic limit of any applied stress.10-01-2009

20100316437Thermal Expansion Compensation Method and System - A method and system that compensates for thermal induced stresses in structures composed of different materials fastened together. The system utilizes three compensation mounts made from a material with a coefficient of thermal expansion that is between that of the two materials being fastened together. These mounts can be linear or, for a thinner structure, the mounts are “C” shaped. The size of the “C” mounts and fastening locations are calculated based on the coefficient of thermal expansion for the two materials being fastened together and the “C” mount material. The geometry of the “C” mounts allows for fastening the two planar surfaces without introducing a large thickness increase to the structure. This system allows for materials to be fastened together, and when placed in an environment with temperature fluctuations, the system experiences zero, minimal or insignificant amounts of thermal induced stress.12-16-2010
