20090013828 | Reduction Process and Plant - Reduction process and relative plant for the production of metallic iron by means of the direct reduction of iron ore, in which a reduction shaft is connected to a source of reducing gas obtained from the gasification of coal. The process advantageously comprises a step in which a portion or all of the synthesis gas entering the plant circuit is processed to separate the methane from the rest of the components of said synthesis gas. The advantageous management of the extracted methane enables the entire reduction process to be optimized, making the efficiency of the process independent of the methane content in the original synthesis gas and making it possible to control the carbon content of the product more accurately and more easily. | 01-15-2009 |
20110094337 | STEELMAKING FACILITY COMPRISING A DIRECT REDUCTION PLANT AND AN ELECTRIC-ARC FURNACE - A steelmaking plant method and apparatus which includes a pressurized direct reduction reactor for continuous production of hot direct reduced iron (ORI); feeding such DRI to a batch melting furnace or to a standby cooler. The furnace is selectively charged through a diverter valve by a pneumatic transport system with the hot DRI being entrained in a motive carrier gas fed via a first conduit into a receiving bin. A pressurized charge of the DRI accumulated in such disengaging buffer bin is periodically fed via a second conduit down into low dosing/depressurization bin which in turn depressurizes the DRI and feeds a batch of DRI down into the furnace. Upon sensing the capacity of the buffer portion of the receiving bin being filled, the DRI! is then pneumatically diverted from the reactor to the cooler, such as during shut down of the furnace for maintenance or otherwise. | 04-28-2011 |

20120125151 | INTEGRATED STEEL PLANT WITH PRODUCTION OF HOT OR COLD DRI - An integrated steelmaking plant design is disclosed for efficiently merging the continuous operation of a reduction reactor producing hot DRI with the batch operation of at least one DRI melting furnace. The direct reduction reactor is adapted for producing hot DRI for its consumption in a DRI melting furnace or for producing cold DRI when the continuous production of DRI will exceed the DRI consumption rate of the melting furnace or when it suffers long-term operational delays. The reduction reactor has a DRI cooling zone within the same reactor vessel which is selectively operable for cooling the DRI in the same reactor vessel when the hot DRI produced in said reactor will not be consumed by the DRI melting furnace and when the capacity of the hot DRI bin feeding the melting furnace is insufficient to accumulate the amount of hot DRI which will not be consumed. The need of a DRI cooling vessel with its associated gas compressor and gas cooling and cleaning system is dispensed with therefore decreasing the capital and operational costs of said steelmaking plant. The invention also allows for a flexible and modular construction and operation of a steelmaking plant and is applicable to reduction reactors whether designed to operate at high or low pressure. | 05-24-2012 |

20100140429 | DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DISPLAYING DECORATIVE ORNAMENTS - Arrangements and methods for connecting and mounting decorative ornaments, for example, beads, crystals, or gems, are disclosed. The arrangements and methods are particularly useful in mounting ornaments in decorative fixtures, such as chandeliers. In one aspect, an arrangement is provided that includes a first ornament having two mounting apertures and a second ornament having at least one mounting aperture; and at least one connector for connecting the first ornament to the second ornament whereby when hung the two apertures of the first ornament are laterally disposed from each other. Multiple pre-formed connectors are disclosed for use in connecting ornaments, such as ornament chains. Mounting hooks, mounting devices, and mounting arrangements are also provided for attaching ornaments to a support, for instance, mounting devices fabricated from thin plate, for example, by laser cutting. Aspects of the invention may be used for large fixtures, such as large chandeliers, to minimize or prevent the twisting of long chains of ornaments and to support the loading of larger ornaments. | 06-10-2010 |

20130079126 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR VARYING TAKE-OUT ON PARI-MUTUEL WAGERS - In a method of pari-mutuel wagering, one or more primary bettors place wagers having an applicable base take-out rate, and thus yielding a base pari-mutuel payout for winning wagers. One or more secondary bettors may place wagers having an applicable modified take-out rate (preferably lower than the base take-out rate), thus yielding a higher payout for winning wagers than the base payout. In one embodiment, primary bettors may place wagers through a host, such as a track. Secondary bettors may place wagers through a non-host distributor, such as an off-track betting location (OTB). Secondary bettors may apply take-out points to lower the base take-out rate to a new modified take-out rate which is applicable to their wager. | 03-28-2013 |

20140206439 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR VARYING THE TAKE-OUT OR RAKE RATE ON WAGERS PLACED IN A WAGERING POOL - In a method of wagering, one or more primary bettors place wagers having an applicable base take-out or rake rate, and thus yielding a base payout for winning wagers. One or more secondary bettors may place wagers having an applicable modified take-out or rake rate (preferably lower than the base take-out or rake rate), thus yielding a higher payout for winning wagers than the base payout. The wagering may occur relative to card games such as poker, or other types of games or events, including sports betting. Bets may be placed with a host, such as a casino or track, or an off-track entity. | 07-24-2014 |
