20100141181 | WIRE AND FRAME IN PARTICULAR NIOBIUM-BASED FOR SINGLE-SIDE SOCKET LAMPS AND A METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF - A highly heat resistant wire based on niobium or tantalum or niobium tantalum alloy for single-side socket lamps is enriched, according to the invention, with phosphorus and converted into an annealed state. The wire exhibits a yield strength Rp 0.2 of at least 200 MPa or a tensile strength Rm of at least 300 MPa. For the production of a frame for single-side socket lamps, a metal based on niobium or tantalum or an alloy thereof is doped with phosphorus and the doped metal is cold shaped into a wire, this wire is annealed and formed into a frame. This frame is used for the simultaneous current supply and holding of a burner in a single-side socket lamp. | 06-10-2010 |

20140053527 | Agricultural Bale Accumulator - An agricultural bale accumulator includes a load bed, a bale transfer module, and a bale discharge module. The load bed includes center, right and left load beds, adapted to receive and accumulate thereon first, second and third bales, respectively, from a bale chamber of an agricultural baler along a bale-receiving axis. The bale transfer module alternately transfers the bales across the load bed from the center load bed to the right load bed or the left load bed along a bale transfer axis, transverse to the bale receiving axis, responsive to a bale transfer signal to accumulate the bales on the center, right, and the left load beds in a side-by-side relationship. The bale discharge module moves between a bale accumulating position and a bale discharging position responsive to a bale discharge signal. The bale discharge module moves to the bale accumulating position to accumulate the bales on the load bed. The bale discharge module moves from the bale accumulating position to the bale discharging position to discharge at least the first bale received and accumulated on the center load bed to the ground surface. | 02-27-2014 |

20090210038 | Medical Light Diffusers for High Power Applications and their Manufacture - A high power density light delivery device is presented that uses an optical fiber with a diffuser attached at a distal end for use in, for example, photodynamic therapy (PDT) and laser induced thermotherapy (LITT). Uniform scattering in the diffuser section is obtained by either inducing differences in refractive index profiles of the core or in the core-cladding interface with the use of scattering centers or nano-voids. Nano-voids are created in the core or core-cladding interface by focusing high power laser energy or picosecond/femtosecond laser pulses on the quartz fiber material to induce defects. A special method is used that writes defects into or near to the core/cladding boundary through the jacket, without the necessity to first remove the jacket and then recoat the fiber. The method uses a wavelength that is highly transmissive in the jacket and fiber but absorbed in the fiber at very short laser pulses with high peak power. These processes allow the use of high power laser energy and the emission of the resulting high power densities in quartz fibers. The disclosed optical fiber delivery system is suitable for high power applications that require optical fibers with high flexibility and strength and core diameters from about 50 to about 400 microns. | 08-20-2009 |
20100179523 | Urological Diode Laser Systems having a Glass-Fiber Application System - The invention relates to a system for medicinal treatment, in particular for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia BPH, for use in the event of tumor resection or for use in thoracic surgery. The system comprises a diode laser device for producing a laser beam and to an application system based on optical wave guides that can be endoscopically introduced into a patient. Said system is designed in such a manner that the laser beam, produced by the diode laser device is guided through the application system and is emitted by said application system so that biological tissue can be treated in a selective manner with the emerging laser beam. | 07-15-2010 |
20100247626 | PEGYLATED COMPOUNDS FOR AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION - A special photosensitizer formulation and Photodynamic Therapy method for treating choroidal neovascularization (CNV) associated with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is provided. CNV is a major cause for vision loss in elderly patients. A special drug delivery formulation is used to encapsulate the hydrophobic photosensitizer, preferably a pegylated liposome. This improves the solubility and therapeutic index of the photosensitizers. In one preferred embodiment, a pegylated photoactive agent remains confined in the intravascular compartment of neovasculature for a longer duration. Thus efficient elimination of neovascular proliferation and minimal damage to extravascular tissue and normal vessels is ensured. In this method, a hydrophobic photosensitizer, that is able to photochemically destroy neovessels, is injected into the patient. CNV irradiation with a non-thermal laser follows after a predefined time interval. The excited photosensitizer photocoagulates newly formed blood vessels thereby improving the vision and preventing further loss of vision. | 09-30-2010 |
