The sorted out packet is provided to an output section and restored to NTSC signals. An audiovisual output section (such as a TV set) receives the signals and outputs images and voices. The reception control section acquires information on the type of contents chosen out of the transport stream through the sorting section, and further compares the contents type information with restorable contents type information recorded in a restorable contents type information recording section. Then, a determination is made whether or not the contents intended for restoration are restorable. Depending on the determination, the manner of process applied to the contents is changed.
