SINGLE-USE LEAK/SPILL PREVENTION CONTAINER LID AND DISPOSABLE CONTAINER - There is described a disposable or single-use container lid which has an annular rim for frictionally engaging a rolled rim of a container, such as a paper cup, a central region and an annular shock-absorbing structure disposed between the annular rim and the central region. The annular shock-absorbing structure comprises an outside channel having a non-flat configuration and being formed around the central region, with the outside channel providing a predetermined amount of extension and contraction at the location of the channel to absorb forces or stress applied to the lid and/or container and facilitate retention of the lid on the container when forces from dropping, tipping, falling or squeezing are applied thereto. In a further example, there is also described a disposable anti-spill drinking lid for a disposable paper container. The lid comprises an annular engagement rim for frictionally engaging the rolled rim of the container, and an integral drinking spout extending from the top surface of the lid and positioned to allow drinking therethrough by tipping of the container toward a user. The lid may be formed of a plastic material having tensile strength and ductility characteristics such that the integral spout can deflect from its extended position and thereafter substantially returns to its original position. Further structures, such as an annular rim which facilitates frictionally engaging the rolled rim of the container may be provided. | 10-02-2008
BEVERAGE AND FOOD CARRIER AND DISPENSING SYSTEMS THEREFOR - A carrier for carrying at least one beverage container includes a sheet of at least one layer of a polymeric material having an arrangement of at least one aperture for receiving a beverage container, and having a plurality of handle members for grasping by at least one finger or portion of a users hand for carrying the beverage container. A tray configuration is also provided for use with the carrier or in a separate manner, and a dispensing system for use with the carrier is set forth. | 09-17-2009

Ramp insert - The present invention is directed to a ramp insert for insertion between rails and/or rungs of a ramp. An embodiment of the present invention includes a body that may have an adjustable length. The body may include a first section that may include a track portion and a second section that may include a groove portion. The groove portion may be capable of fitting together with the track portion. The first or second section may be capable of slidably moving with respect to the other section via the track portion and the groove portion. The ramp insert may be placed between the rails and/or rungs of the ramp whereby the ramp insert may be adjusted to various lengths. Since the ramp insert may be adjusted to various lengths, the ramp insert may fit many different kinds of ramps having various widths. | 02-18-2010

Interactive Image Segmentation On Directed Graphs - Methods for segmentation of an object from a background in an image are disclosed. Segmentation is achieved by an adapted Random Walker segmentation method using directed edges in a graph. The segmentation applies the minimization of an approximation of an energy function. A minimizer of the approximated energy function can be found by using iterative steps. Weights are assigned to an edge between two nodes. The weights are dependent on the direction of an edge. A system for segmentation of an object from a background is also disclosed. | 03-05-2009
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMAGE SEGMENTATION USING CONTINUOUS VALUED MRFS WITH NORMED PAIRWISE DISTRIBUTIONS - A method for segmenting a digital image includes initializing object and background seed nodes in an image, where the image is represented as a graph G=(V, E) whose nodes iεV correspond to image points and whose edges eεE connect adjacent points, where set M⊂V contains locations of nodes marked as seeds, set U⊂V contains locations of unmarked nodes, set O⊂M contains locations of object seed nodes, and set B⊂M contains locations of background seed nodes, assigning to each seed node a membership value such that ∀iεO,x | 04-29-2010
