20090321138 | Drill bit having functional articulation to drill boreholes in earth formations in all directions - A drill bit is described herein, having a first bit face with a first plurality of cutters oriented to bore in a first direction, and a second bit face with a second plurality of cutters oriented to bore in one or more second directions. The pluralities of cutters enable functional articulation of the drill bit, such that the drill bit can change direction within a borehole without requiring removal of the drill bit. The drill bit can thereby drill in a downhole direction and lateral directions, can back ream through the borehole, and can provide the borehole with one or more oversized regions, as desired. | 12-31-2009 |

20090078713 | Securable Consumer Goods Transportation Apparatus - A securable consumer goods transportation apparatus comprising a container, and a spill prevention strap attached to the container. Also disclosed is a method comprising placing a consumer good in a container comprising a spill retention strap, positioning the container in a vehicle, securing the container in the vehicle using the spill retention strap, wherein the spill retention strap substantially maintains the position of the container relative to the vehicle when the vehicle experiences a substantially sudden movement. Furthermore, a method comprising providing instructions to secure a container comprising a spill retention strap in a vehicle, wherein the spill retention strap substantially maintains the position of the container relative to the vehicle when the vehicle experiences a substantially sudden movement is disclosed. | 03-26-2009 |

20090175158 | CODED VIRTUAL CHANNEL NETWORK - A data coding/decoding system for use with a plurality of users includes an encoder, a transmitter, a receiver, and a decoder. The encoder encodes data to be transmitted over a shared physical transmission medium using an orthogonal or convolution code associated with a receiving user. The transmitter transmits the encoded data. Generally, data may be transmitted simultaneously by a plurality of users. The receiver receives a stream of encoded data and forwards it to the decoder, which decodes it based on the orthogonal or convolution code of the receiving user. | 07-09-2009 |

20080267390 | System and method for in-band control signaling using bandwidth distributed encoding - Systems and methods are disclosed for in-band control signaling using bandwidth distributed encoding to send modulated control carrier signals with analog voice signals in the same voice frequency band. A transmitting device generates control carrier signals spread over a voice frequency band, combines them with analog voice signals in the voice frequency band, and transmits the combined signals over a communication channel. The transmitting device can use a control signal encoder to apply a pseudo-random code to the control carrier signal in order to spread it over a voice frequency band. As such, control signals are sent as in-band signals without significantly degrading the voice signals. A receiving device receives the combined signals within the voice frequency band. The receiving device demodulates the combined signal and uses matching pseudo-random codes to determine if a control signal has been sent. The receiving device also reproduces the voice signals themselves. If a code is matched, then an appropriate response to the control signal can be taken. | 10-30-2008 |
