20120062896 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERMEABILITY RATE TESTING OF BARRIER FILMS - The present invention is directed to systems and methods which utilize a cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS) technique implemented for the measurements of vapor transmission rate. In one embodiment, the vapor content to be measured is contained within an optical cavity. Light is then injected into the cavity up to a threshold level and the delay time of the injected light is measured. When the wavelength of the injected light is resonant with an absorption feature of the vapor the decay time increases linearly as a function of vapor content. In this manner, vapor content causes a longer delay time and thus the amount of vapor passing through the film (film permeation rate) can be determined in real-time. | 03-15-2012 |
20120210770 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERMEABILITY RATE TESTING OF BARRIER FILMS USING VAPOR ACCUMULATION - The present invention is directed to systems and methods which utilize a cavity ringdown spectroscopy (CRDS) technique for measuring vapor transmission rate through a barrier film by first allowing the vapor to accumulate over a period of time after a steady state condition has been achieved. In this manner, in one embodiment, water permeation through a plastic film, even at very low permeability rates, can be accumulated over time. The accumulated water vapor is then measured and a calculation made as to permeation per unit of time. One main advantage of the accumulated method is that minimum vapor detection is limited only by the ability to produce a good seal around the edges of the plastic film in the sample cell. | 08-23-2012 |

20150189761 | METHOD FOR DEPOSITING AND CURING NANOPARTICLE-BASED INK - A method for forming a conductive pattern on a substrate deposits, onto a surface of the substrate, a nanoparticle ink that comprises nanoparticles of a conductive or semiconductor material, at least one low boiling point solvent, and from 0.1 weight % to 50 weight % of a high boiling point solvent. The method forms a partially wet patterned substrate by drying the deposited nanoparticle ink to a wetness range between about 3 weight % and 8 weight % solvent. The method directs a patterned illumination of laser light to cure the deposited ink pattern on the partially wet patterned substrate. | 07-02-2015 |

20110175183 | INTEGRATED PLASMONIC LENS PHOTODETECTOR - Metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) photodetectors may see increased responsivity when a plasmonic lens is integrated with the photodetector. The increased responsivity of the photodetector may be a result of effectively ‘guiding’ photons into the active area of the device in the form of a surface plasmon polariton. In one embodiment, the plasmonic lens may not substantially decrease the speed of the MSM photodetector. In another embodiment, the Shottkey contacts of the MSM photodetector may be corrugated to provide integrated plasmonic lens. For example, one or more of the cathodes and anodes can be modified to create a plurality of corrugations. These corrugations may be configured as a plasmonic lens on the surface of a photodetector. The corrugations may be configured as parallel linear corrugations, equally spaced curved corrugations, curved parallel corrugations, approximately equally spaced concentric circular corrugations, chirped corrugations or the like. | 07-21-2011 |

20090267385 | Platform for a vehicle-mounted box - A platform for climbing and/or standing on a vehicle-mounted box by a person having a greater than average girth is provided. In one embodiment, the platform includes a tread, an arm, and a bracket. The tread has a surface area sufficiently sized so that a person of greater than average girth has room to place his feet on the tread while climbing and/or standing on a vehicle-mounted box. The arm is attached to the tread. The bracket pivotally secures the arm such that the attached tread pivots about the bracket. The bracket tightly holds the tread to provide stability during transportation in a storage position and during use in a use position. In another embodiment, the platform also includes a tube. The tube includes holes spaced apart along its length. The location of the bracket is vertically adjustable along the tube. | 10-29-2009 |

20150251509 | AMPHIBIOUS ARMOR - Buoyant armor for jacketed rounds includes an outer, laminate reinforced strike face having a hardness greater than 640 Brinell. The strike face is configured to strip the jacket off a projectile as it passes through the strike face and to rotate the projectile. An inner, laminate reinforced strike face is separated from the outer, laminate reinforced strike face by a spacer layer. Foam greater than 40 mm thick is disposed behind the inner strike face and is configured to disperse a round and/or its fragments and to provide buoyancy to the armor. | 09-10-2015 |
