20090282469 | AIRCRAFT COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM USING WHITELISTS TO CONTROL ACCESS AND ASSOCIATED METHODS - A communications system for an aircraft carrying personnel having personal electronic devices (PEDs) includes a wireless access device in the aircraft for the PEDs, and an aircraft server in the aircraft cooperating with the wireless access device for determining airborne validation of a ground server address entered via a corresponding PED. An air-to-ground transceiver in the aircraft cooperates with the aircraft server for communicating over an air-to-ground interface the airborne validated ground server address. A ground server on the ground receives the airborne validated ground server address over the air-to-ground interface, determines ground validation of the airborne validated ground server address, and provides ground access for the corresponding PED for which the entered ground server address has both airborne and ground validation. | 11-12-2009 |

20100213366 | COUPLING BETWEEN AXISYMMETRIC DIFFERENTIAL MOBILITY ANALYZERS AND MASS SPECTROMETERS OR OTHER ANALYZERS AND DETECTORS - Prior work on differential mobility analysis (DMA) combined with mass spectrometry (MS) has shown how to couple the output of a planar DMA with the atmospheric pressure inlet of an atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometer (APCI-MS). However, because the ion inlet to APCI-MS instruments is a round orifice, while conventional DMA geometries make use of elongated slits, the coupling of both has attained less resolving power or tolerated a smaller sample flow rate than a DMA alone. The present invention overcomes these limitations with an axial DMA of cylindrical symmetry using more than two electrodes. The configuration is related to that previously proposed by Labowsky and Fernández de la. Mora (2004, 2006), where ions with a critical electrical mobility are brought into the symmetry axis of the DMA. Ions with this critical mobility are now optimally transmitted into the MS, with much higher resolution than possible in planar DMAs. In a preferred embodiment of this DMA facilitating DMA-MS coupling, one DMA electrode intersecting the symmetry axis is relatively planar. | 08-26-2010 |

20090279747 | Method and System for Acoustic Impediography Biometric Sensing - Provided is a method for analyzing a fingerprint, including storing a captured fingerprint in a memory; and analyzing the stored fingerprint using acoustic sensing principles. | 11-12-2009 |
20090279748 | Method and system for multi-mode mechanical resonator - Provided is a fingerprint sensor including one or more mechanical devices for capturing the fingerprint. The resonators are configured to be mechanically damped based upon an applied load. | 11-12-2009 |
20090279751 | Mechanical resonator optimization using shear wave damping - Provided is a fingerprint sensor including one or more mechanical devices for capturing the fingerprint. The mechanical devices include a matrix of pillars and are configured to be mechanically damped based upon an applied load. A q factor of the pillars is optimized by adjusting a distance between pillars within the matrix in accordance with a quarter shear wavelength at an operating wavelength. | 11-12-2009 |

20110170750 | Pulse-Rate Detection Using a Fingerprint Sensor - Provided is a fingerprint sensor configured for detecting a pulse of a human or other mammal. A time series of fingerprint images is analyzed to identify time-based variations in spatial location and/or pressure from ridges of a finger, where the variations result from time-based variations in the flow of blood. Based on the analysis, a determination is made if the time-based variations are indicative of a pulse in a digit of the person, and if so, a determination is made as to the pulse rate based on the variations. Imaging sensitivity of the digit at the fingerprint sensor is optimized for determination of the pulse. The time series of fingerprint images is also analyzed to determine if there is bulk motion of the digit, in which case pulse rate analysis is temporarily suspended. | 07-14-2011 |
20120016604 | Methods and Systems for Pointing Device Using Acoustic Impediography - Invention includes a novel pointing device which uses acoustic impediography as a means to locate the position of finger and then uses the said location to control the position of a cursor on a computer screen. In addition, while the finger is touching the sensor the touch-pressure level can be estimated via statistical data evaluation, as average brightness decreases with increasing touch-pressure providing a means for gesturing. This new device has the advantage that it can double as a biometric identification device for verifying the identity of the computer's user. | 01-19-2012 |
