20090282469AIRCRAFT COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM USING WHITELISTS TO CONTROL ACCESS AND ASSOCIATED METHODS - A communications system for an aircraft carrying personnel having personal electronic devices (PEDs) includes a wireless access device in the aircraft for the PEDs, and an aircraft server in the aircraft cooperating with the wireless access device for determining airborne validation of a ground server address entered via a corresponding PED. An air-to-ground transceiver in the aircraft cooperates with the aircraft server for communicating over an air-to-ground interface the airborne validated ground server address. A ground server on the ground receives the airborne validated ground server address over the air-to-ground interface, determines ground validation of the airborne validated ground server address, and provides ground access for the corresponding PED for which the entered ground server address has both airborne and ground validation.11-12-2009
20100189089COMMUNICATIONS INTERFACE DEVICE FOR PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES (PEDS) OPERATING ON A GENERAL AVIATION AIRCRAFT AND ASSOCIATED METHODS - A communications device is to be removably positioned in an aircraft that includes a radio, and a first modem coupled thereto. The communications device includes a portable housing to be removably positioned within the aircraft, and a second modem carried by the portable housing and coupled to the first modem. A wireless access point is carried by the portable housing to provide a wireless local area network (WLAN) within the aircraft to communicate with a personal electronic device (PED) carried by an occupant of the aircraft. A data router is coupled between the wireless access point and the second modem. A processor is carried by the portable housing to couple the PED in communications with the radio via the WLAN.07-29-2010

20100213366COUPLING BETWEEN AXISYMMETRIC DIFFERENTIAL MOBILITY ANALYZERS AND MASS SPECTROMETERS OR OTHER ANALYZERS AND DETECTORS - Prior work on differential mobility analysis (DMA) combined with mass spectrometry (MS) has shown how to couple the output of a planar DMA with the atmospheric pressure inlet of an atmospheric pressure ionization mass spectrometer (APCI-MS). However, because the ion inlet to APCI-MS instruments is a round orifice, while conventional DMA geometries make use of elongated slits, the coupling of both has attained less resolving power or tolerated a smaller sample flow rate than a DMA alone. The present invention overcomes these limitations with an axial DMA of cylindrical symmetry using more than two electrodes. The configuration is related to that previously proposed by Labowsky and Fernández de la. Mora (2004, 2006), where ions with a critical electrical mobility are brought into the symmetry axis of the DMA. Ions with this critical mobility are now optimally transmitted into the MS, with much higher resolution than possible in planar DMAs. In a preferred embodiment of this DMA facilitating DMA-MS coupling, one DMA electrode intersecting the symmetry axis is relatively planar.08-26-2010

20090279747Method and System for Acoustic Impediography Biometric Sensing - Provided is a method for analyzing a fingerprint, including storing a captured fingerprint in a memory; and analyzing the stored fingerprint using acoustic sensing principles.11-12-2009
20090279748Method and system for multi-mode mechanical resonator - Provided is a fingerprint sensor including one or more mechanical devices for capturing the fingerprint. The resonators are configured to be mechanically damped based upon an applied load.11-12-2009
20090279751Mechanical resonator optimization using shear wave damping - Provided is a fingerprint sensor including one or more mechanical devices for capturing the fingerprint. The mechanical devices include a matrix of pillars and are configured to be mechanically damped based upon an applied load. A q factor of the pillars is optimized by adjusting a distance between pillars within the matrix in accordance with a quarter shear wavelength at an operating wavelength.11-12-2009
20100239133Piezoelectric Identification Device and Applications Thereof - Provided is a transducer having first and second surfaces including first electrode lines positioned along the first surface in a first direction and configured for grounding and second electrode lines positioned along the second surface in a direction orthogonal to the first direction. The second electrode lines are configured switching between receiving and transmitting in an interlaced manner.09-23-2010
