20090289085Beverage Dispensing Device - A beverage dispensing device using a pressure regulator to maintain the pressure inside the beverage container as the beverage is dispensed is disclosed. The pressure regulator includes a second chamber separate from the space containing the beverage. The second chamber contains a sorbent on which a propellant gas is adsorbed. The pressure inside the beverage container controls the opening and closing of a flow regulator that allows either the beverage being dispensed or a displacing agent contained in a third chamber to flow into the second chamber when the pressure in the beverage container is decreased. If either the beverage or the displacing agent flow into the second chamber, it will liberate the propellant gas adsorbed to the sorbent, and the gas is released through an outlet into the beverage container. This increases the pressure in the beverage, which in turn closes the flow regulator and stops the liberation of the propellant gas from the sorbent. This process is repeated as the beverage is being dispensed to maintain the pressure of the beverage inside the dispenser.11-26-2009

20100036452Modulation of neural traveling waves - The present invention provides devices and methods for modulating the properties and propagation of traveling waves of electrical activity in neural systems. Such modulation is useful for a variety of purposes, including the control and containment of epileptic seizure activity, for treating mental disorders, movement disorders, sleep disorders, pain, and other disturbances and illnesses associated with neural systems. In addition, the devices can be used to modulate sensory and other stimuli experienced by a neural system, as well as any other normal neural activity. Neural prosthetic devices incorporating the methods of the present application have a wide range of applications and use in medicine, psychiatry, behavioral psychology, research, and other disciplines that address and treat disturbances in neural systems.02-11-2010

20120005063FIX PROXY SERVER - Using a feed backbone computer network, enables connection of counterparty customers in disparate Financial Information Exchange (FIX) networks, across IP network boundaries. The feed backbone network links consumer, database, management, and proxy computer systems with a FIX backbone computer network in turn connected to trading extranets via access centers. Proxy computer systems balance their shared message processing load, log message traffic, manage operational sessions, and collect and present aggregated feed information to client users, whether connected locally or to the trading extranets. A software proxy acts as a “middleman” between the two customer endpoints. Copies selected FIX messages to a multicast backbone for aggregation in a standard format. The entire network is centrally configurable and supports realtime operational status.01-05-2012

20130102919Model Based Control of Parkinson's Disease - The present invention relates to a novel means to use a fundamental model of the parts of the brain that are dysfunctional in Parkinson's disease, and related dynamical diseases of the brain, as part of a feedback control system to modulate the signs and symptoms of disease. Fundamental computational models that embody our knowledge of the anatomy, neurons, and dynamics of the parts of the brain we wish to control, and use those models to reconstruct what is inaccessible to our measurements. Through emulation the controller synchronizes to the parts of the brain we wish to observe and track. By passing simultaneous control pulses to both the model controller, as well as the brain, we control both the model and the brain. The detailed framework to embed fundamental models of the brain within a control scheme to control symptoms of Parkinsons and related dynamical diseases of the brain are disclosed.04-25-2013

20100267250Device Interfaces With Non-Mechanical Securement Mechanisms - A number of device interfaces that may use magnetic forces to secure different devices together are disclosed. The device interfaces may include magnetic material positioned in between parallel rows of electrical contact elements in the devices. Magnetic forces may be exerted on and from the electrical contact elements to cause mutually cooperating elements from the devices to be substantially attracted and drawn towards each other. Once the contact elements make contact and are engaged, their mutual attractive forces may cause them to resist being separated. Additionally, the distal ends of the contact elements may have mutually cooperating male and female engagement surface configurations.10-21-2010
