20110004570Non-debt, increasing-share, co-ownership to full ownership - A method of debt-free property purchase through a partnership or any other form of co-ownership between a lead buyer (or buyers) and an investor (or investors) where the co-ownership is a separate legal entity whose sole purpose is to own, hold and manage a given property. The lead buyer may acquire additional percentage of the co-ownership over time towards full ownership, at a cost based on the latest assessed value. The co-ownership is best setup as a separate legal entity as it facilitates management of the property and gradual transfer of ownership. The co-ownership rents the property and the lead buyer has the first right to rent it. The co-ownership recognizes profit, loss, expense and responsibility for the property and distributes revenue. Lead buyers may choose to use their revenue to grow ownership share while investors may invest it, along with sale proceeds, in new co-ownerships.01-06-2011

20090127793Upset resistant mechanical seal - A mechanical seal face has a significant increase in the ability of the seal to tolerate poor lubrication conditions such as dry running. The mechanical seal employs a thin, non-corrugated flat sheet of flexible thermally conductive graphite material placed between one of the mechanical seal faces and a metal surface such as a metal surface defined by a shaft sleeve or gland serving as a seal ring holder. The graphite sheet is located axially between a back face of the more thermally conductive mechanical seal ring and the metal face holder part. The conductive seal face material preferably is a ceramic or cermet material such as silicon carbide, tungsten carbide, silicon nitride, aluminum oxide, or a metallic material such as stainless steel. Fluid pressure and spring forces are used to create a compressive load between the seal face, graphite sheet, and metal part to maximize continuous contact between the opposed faces of these parts and the opposite sides of the graphite sheet, and heat buildup at contacting seal faces flows away therefrom to the metal part through the thermally conductive sheet.05-21-2009

20120012167SOLAR CELL EMPLOYING AN ENHANCED FREE HOLE DENSITY P-DOPED MATERIAL AND METHODS FOR FORMING THE SAME - A p-doped semiconductor layer of a photovoltaic device is formed employing an inert gas within a carrier gas. The presence of the inert gas within the carrier gas increases free hole density within the p-doped semiconductor layer. This decreases the Schottky barrier at an interface with a transparent conductive material layer, thereby significantly reducing the series resistance of the photovoltaic device. The reduction of the series resistance increases the open-circuit voltage, the fill factor, and the efficiency of the photovoltaic device. This effect is more prominent if the p-doped semiconductor layer is also doped with carbon, and has a band gap greater than 1.85V. The p-doped semiconductor material of the p-doped semiconductor layer can be hydrogenated if the carrier gas includes a mix of H01-19-2012

20100055802Analysis using separation combined with chemical conversion followed by optical spectroscopy - The present invention relates to the separation, quantitative measurement, and analysis of trace species using a combination of three steps in succession. First, trace species are separated from other species that are present. Second, the trace species are chemically modified to convert them into specific species that are advantageous for the third and final step. In this last step, cavity enhanced optical detection of the converted species is performed to detect and measure the concentrations of the species of interest. Because the last step has spectroscopic resolution, the concentration of isotopologues in each converted species can be determined. Further processing can provide the ratios between pairs of isotopologues, in particular the ratio of the rare isotopologues to the most abundant isotopologue.03-04-2010

20090010649Optical access network with legacy support - An optical access network system can be used to upgrade legacy passive optical networks by subdividing currently used optical bands (e.g., C-, S-, or O-bands) into subbands to support more wavelengths. The subbands can be used to provide various current or emerging services to end users. Optical transmitters may selectively transmit modulated/unmodulated optical signals in multiple subbands downstream. Demultiplexers demultiplex the optical signals into respective bands and subbands for delivery to multiple respective destinations. Optical transceivers may receive and modulate downstream, unmodulated, optical signals (e.g., in the optical O-band) and transmit the modulated optical signals upstream. Upgrades to legacy systems or future systems can be implemented in a cost effective manner with negligible, if any, disruptions in service noticed by the end user.01-08-2009
