20100269889Photoelectric Solar Panel Electrical Safety System Permitting Access for Fire Suppression - An apparatus and method is provided to allow fire fighters and other personnel unimpeded access to a roof no matter the placement or configuration of a plurality of solar panels installed on the roof. A user first disables the flow of electricity from the solar panels by activating a fail-safe system, thus electrically isolating each solar panel from a common power line and making safe manipulation of the solar panel possible. The user then unlocks the solar panel from its mounting frame by opening a latch and rotates the solar panel on the frame to expose the portion of the roof beneath the panel. The solar panel rotates over the end of the frame and remains coupled to the frame. With the solar panel swung out of the way, full and unimpeded access of the roof below the panel is now accessible to the firefighter.10-28-2010

20100192348PULLING TOOL - An improved tool for pulling off a rotor of a motor from a shaft or a fan from a shaft, which improved tool is provided with hooked arms that are releasably but securely held at one end in the housing, without the use of retaining clips, so that the arms do not fall off during use or become lost, and so that they do not interfere with the use of the tool when using the securing bolts for pulling off a rotor. The housing of the improved tool of the invention is circular in shape, and in a first version, is provided with a plurality of equally-spaced holes about its circumference, which holes received the hooked ends of the hooked arms, so that various configurations of hooked arms may be provided to best suit the configuration of vanes and type of fan being pulled off a shaft. In another version, instead of the plurality of equally-spaced holes for holding the hooked ends of the hooked arms, an annular groove is provided on the upper, horizontal surface of the lower circular cross-sectioned section of the housing, which annular groove is preferably continuous for 360 degrees about the upper, horizontal surface of the lower circular cross-sectioned section of the housing, whereby there is provided substantially an infinite spacing capability to the hooked ends of the hooked arms.08-05-2010

20110061267Removable Footwear Cleat with Cushioning - A removable cleat for footwear. The cleat includes a disc with opposing faces. A shoe coupling element is attached to one face of the disc. The other disc face supports a cushioning layer. Traction elements are supported by the cushioning layer. When a user steps on a surface wearing a shoe outfitted with these cleats, the resilience of the cushioning layer at once both lessens the impact of the traction elements on the ground surface and lessens the reaction force on the user's foot transmitted through the shoe's outsole. The user's comfort is thereby enhanced.03-17-2011

20100107450Footwear Cleat with Cushioning - A cleat for footwear. The cleat includes a base layer that attaches to the outsole of the footwear, a cushioning layer and a traction element layer. The traction element layer is attached to the base layer solely by the cushioning layer. Each of the cleat layers provides friction with the ground when the cleat engages the ground. The durometer of the base layer and the durometer of the traction element layer are greater than the durometer of the cushioning layer. When a user steps on a surface wearing a shoe outfitted with these cleats, the resilience of the cushioning layer at once both lessens the impact of the traction elements on the ground surface and lessens the reaction force on the user's foot transmitted through the shoe's outsole. The user's comfort is thereby enhanced.05-06-2010

20090142924REDUCED ELECTROMIGRATION AND STRESSED INDUCED MIGRATION OF CU WIRES BY SURFACE COATING - The idea of the invention is to coat the free surface of patterned Cu conducting lines in on-chip interconnections (BEOL) wiring by a 1-20 nm thick metal layer prior to deposition of the interlevel dielectric. This coating is sufficiently thin so as to obviate the need for additional planarization by polishing, while providing protection against oxidation and surface, or interface, diffusion of Cu which has been identified by the inventors as the leading contributor to metal line failure by electromigration and thermal stress voiding. Also, the metal layer increases the adhesion strength between the Cu and dielectric so as to further increase lifetime and facilitate process yield. The free surface is a direct result of the CMP (chemical mechanical polishing) in a damascene process or in a dry etching process by which Cu wiring is patterned. It is proposed that the metal capping layer be deposited by a selective process onto the Cu to minimize further processing. We have used electroless metal coatings, such as CoWP, CoSnP and Pd, to illustrate significant reliability benefits, although chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of metals or metal forming compounds can be employed.06-04-2009

20090060860BETA-CYCLODEXTRINS AS NUCLEATING AGENTS FOR POLY(LACTIC ACID) - The use of β-CDs as nucleating agents for PLA to provide an increase in polymer crystallinity is described. The improvement in increased crystallinity is related to the percentage of β-CDs used. For the analyzed films, crystallinity was approximately 1.47% in the absence of a nucleating agent, and approximately 17.85% in the presence of the maximum amount of nucleating agent tested (e.g., 30%). Thus, improvement in processability, producability, and heat resistance of PLA will depend on the amount of β-CDs loaded. Additionally, loading PLA with β-CDs carrying an antifungal volatile is an effective way to increase PLA crystallinity besides avoiding fungal development when used in active packaging. In this case, the antifungal volatiles, along with changes in headspace concentration because of changes in crystallinity, may prolong the fresh produce shelf life.03-05-2009
