20100052882 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMMOBILIZING A VEHICLE - In accordance with one embodiment, an onboard computer (OBC) and associated circuitry capable of spoofing or mimicking a fault condition tricks an electronic control module (ECM) of an automobile or other such vehicle into implementing an engine derate procedure resulting in vehicle immobilization that is safe and that is credibly attributable to a genuine vehicle fault condition. For example, in response to an engine shutdown command, the OBC might cause a fault-spoofing engine shutdown device in one embodiment to spoof an engine overheating condition by inserting an electrical resistance in parallel with the resistance of an engine temperature sensor, thus lowering the electrical resistance of the temperature sensor as detected by the ECM. | 03-04-2010 |

20100288925 | High-density FIB-SEM tomography via real-time imaging - A method and an apparatus are for three-dimensional tomographic image generation in a scanning electron microscope system. At least two longitudinal marks are provided on the top surface of the sample which include an angle therebetween. In consecutive image recordings, the positions of these marks are determined and are used to quantify the slice thickness removed between consecutive image recordings. | 11-18-2010 |

20090105071 | METHOD OF SEPARATING AN EXPOSED THERMAL TRANSFER ASSEMBLAGE - In a method of using a donor element in a radiation-induced thermal transfer process, an assemblage is provided that includes a donor element and a receiver element, wherein the donor element has a support layer and a transfer layer having one side adjacent the support layer and the other side adjacent the receiver element. After image-wise exposing the assemblage to radiation whereby a portion of the transfer layer is transferred to the receiver element, relative movement between the support layer and the receiver element is provided before separating the donor element from the receiver element. Advantages include improved edge straightness, image width predictability, improved thermal mass transfer, and improved color filters. | 04-23-2009 |
20090273796 | PEELING IMAGED MEDIA FROM A SUBSTRATE - A method for imaging a media is provided which includes supporting a substrate and the media in a layered configuration. An imaging head is operated to image the media by directing radiation beams towards a surface of the imaged media while effecting relative movement between the imaging head and the support. A roller is brought into contact with the imaged media. The roller can be brought into contact with an un-imaged region of the surface of the imaged media, the un-imaged region corresponding to a region of the surface of the imaged media that is not impinged by the radiation beams. The un-imaged region could be an edge portion of the media. Relative movement is effected between an axis of rotation of the roller and the support to cause the roller to roll on the regions of the surface of the imaged media impinged by the radiation beams. | 11-05-2009 |

20110039640 | Batting training apparatus - A batting training system utilizes an adjustable belt which is worn around the waist of a batter. One end of a tether line is connected to the belt and the other end to a hook which is configured to be attached to a fixed structure such as a fence. Releasable connectors which use Velcro® or its equivalent, are located between the ends of the tether. With the belt around the batter's waist and the tether extended from the belt to the fixed structure, the batter takes his stance, awaiting the pitched ball. If the batter takes a proper swing, i.e. he properly shifts his weight, the tether will remain attached between the batter and the fixed structure. If the batter improperly moves his body forward before swinging or shifts his weight forward during the swing, the connectors will detach, allowing the tether to fall to the ground. This provides immediate feedback to the batter, who can then reattach the connectors and continue to practice swinging correctly. | 02-17-2011 |

20120018857 | SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CHIP PACKAGE BUILD-UP - A system and method for chip package fabrication is disclosed. The chip package includes a base re-distribution layer having an opening formed therein, an adhesive layer having a window formed therein free of adhesive material, and a die affixed to the base re-distribution layer by way of the adhesive layer, the die being aligned with the window such that only a perimeter of the die contacts the adhesive layer. A shield element is positioned between the base re-distribution layer and adhesive layer that is generally aligned with the opening formed in the base re-distribution layer and the window of the adhesive layer such that only a perimeter of the shield element is attached to the adhesive layer. The shield element is separated from the die by an air gap and is configured to be selectively removable from the adhesive layer so as to expose the front surface of the die. | 01-26-2012 |
