| 20090257475 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SECURE COMMUNICATION OF COLLECTED AMPHIBIOUS DATA - system and method for secure communication of collected amphibious data is disclosed, which uses direct-sequence, spread spectrum, ultra wideband (DS-SS UWB) communications to enhance the security of the collected amphibious data during transmission over a wireless communication link. The UWB technique used transmits the collected data using very short pulses with low duty cycles. Thus, the power of the transmitted signals can be distributed evenly over a large bandwidth, and buried within the environmental noise (below the noise floor) to produce “stealth” transmissions. The transmitted signals can also be encrypted, which provides a wireless data communication transmission that is immune from jamming and masked from eavesdropping attempts. As one example, a system for secure communication of collected amphibious data is disclosed, which includes a DS-SS UWB transmitter and receiver. The DS-SS UWB transmitter includes a data input unit, a data encryption unit, a UWB encoder unit, a DS spectrum spreader function unit, and a power amplifier unit. The DS-SS UWB receiver includes a receiver front end unit, a data decryption unit, a DS spectrum despreader function unit, and a receiver filter unit. As another example, the DS-SS UWB transmitter and receiver are combined to provide a DS-SS UWB transceiver. | 10-15-2009 |

| 20100017139 | Low-power satellite-timed seismic data acquisition system - A recording system and method for conducting seismic surveys including cordless battery-operated digital recorders, each employing an integral global positioning system receiver that is only periodically enabled for the purpose of establishing synchronized acquisition clock signals among all the recorders. The satellite receiver adjustment cycle is varied depending on past acquisition clock accuracy and temperature changes. A time stamp is recorded with the digitized seismic data in non-volatile memory. The memory is sized to allow extended periods of operation. Each recorder preferably includes a low-power system timer that may be used as a timer to remotely turn on and off the recorders according to a pre-programmed schedule to conserve power when the system is not in use. Electronic components are idled or de-energized when not needed. | 01-21-2010 |

| 20080228479 | Data transcription and management system and method - What is disclosed is a data gathering, storage and management system, which includes a database in which data files are stored. The database includes a series of selected keywords each associated with one or more content files, the content files comprising advertisements, information, on-screen control buttons for performing a series of functions, and links for access to websites and other sources of information. The system accepts audio data files and identifies keywords that may be heard in the audio file. In one embodiment, the audio data file is transcribed and keywords are searched for in the transcribed text. The identified keywords from the audio data file are compared with the selected keywords, and at least one content file is selected for display for each retrieved keyword in the list which matches a selected keyword. The content file is displayed to the user so that the displayed content is relevant to the produced audio, which may be a recording of a conversation, a speech, or issued voice commands. What is disclosed is a method and system for providing relevant content to a user based upon speech. | 09-18-2008 |

| 20120032814 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING ELECTRICAL DEMAND PERFORMANCE - A method and associated system for monitoring electrical demand performance in a building, industrial complex or university campus is disclosed. According to a preferred method, historical data is initially complied and statically analyzed to determine demand forecast for a baseline day. Further according to the method, electrical demand is plotted with another indication, more particularly outside air temperature. Additionally the invention provides and electronic alert to building engineers when demand falls outside the expected demand range. Still further a control chart is provided with the expected electrical load range. Outside air temperature is also optionally considered historically and in real time in the method. The invention further contemplates commissioning building engineers to reduce demand when a real time demand is higher than an expected energy demand. A system is also disclosed herein having instrumentation and electronic devices controlled by software and transmitting data. | 02-09-2012 |
