20100173653 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MOBILE TERMINAL-BASED RADIO RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND WIRELESS NETWORK OPTIMIZATION - A network can send cell reselection criteria to a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal measures or otherwise obtains radio condition measurements (such as received power, interference, mobile transmit power and the like) and/or geographical location measurements. The mobile can maintain a history of the cell selection criteria and/or measurements. The radio condition measurements are compared against historical data and/or cell reselection criteria and, based on the comparison; the mobile terminal can initiate cell reselection. | 07-08-2010 |
20100203891 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FACILITATING A HAND-IN OF USER EQUIPMENT TO FEMTO CELLS - Aspects are disclosed for facilitating a hand-in to a femto cell. An identifier is assigned to a femto cell in which the identifier is based on a scrambling parameter and a timing parameter. A relationship between the identifier and the femto cell is then communicated. In another embodiment, a user equipment report is received, which includes attributes related to a signal broadcast by a femto cell. An identifier associated with the femto cell is ascertained from an attribute included in the report. The femto cell is then identified based on the identifier. In a further embodiment, a timing parameter is received, and a scrambling parameter is set. A signal including the scrambling parameter is then broadcast according to an offset related to the timing parameter. In yet another embodiment, a femto cell is detected during an active call. An identifier associated with the femto cell is then ascertained and reported. | 08-12-2010 |
20100279686 | PROXIMITY BASED ACCESS CONTROL - A method for reducing interference to wireless communication devices is disclosed. A proximity of a wireless communication device to a base station is determined. The proximity of the wireless communication device is compared with a proximity threshold and based on the comparison, access to a femtocell may be granted to a restricted/non-CSG (closed subscriber group) wireless communication device. The method also includes causing a registration response to be sent to the wireless communication device based on the comparison. | 11-04-2010 |
20100284387 | PAGING FOR LOCAL IP ACCESS PACKETS - Local IP access paging schemes facilitate paging of an access terminal when packets destined for the access terminal are received via local IP access. In some implementations, a local entity acquires information that enables local paging of the access terminal by sniffing messages passing through the local entity. In some implementations, a local entity sends a packet or message to cause the core network to page an access terminal when a local IP access packet destined for the access terminal arrives at the local entity. | 11-11-2010 |

20100057563 | DEPLOYMENT AND DISTRIBUTION MODEL FOR IMPROVED CONTENT DELIVERY - A deployment and distribution model improves content delivery with a business incentive for placement of kiosks with one or more wireless access points in public locations so that portable media players (PMPs) can receive media content (e.g., audio, video, text, haptic content, etc.). In addition, coordination between subscribing users of PMPs, vendors who provide kiosks, and a network central controller of a content distribution system allow for prepositioning of video content at the kiosks through economically desirable low data rate communication links from the network (e.g., dial-up modem, DSL, etc.); coordinated queuing of downloads (e.g., partial downloads) between kiosk to PMP, peer-to-peer (P2P) downloading between PMPs, and uploads from PMP to kiosk; billing/crediting to correspond with such participation in the distribution; and changing priority/selection of prepositioning of content at kiosks to reflect a clientele profile. | 03-04-2010 |

20100141400 | LOWER POWER DISCOVERY AND WAKE UP USING SERVICE SET IDENTIFIER PROBABILISTIC SCANNING SYNCHRONIZATION VERIFICATION AND OPTIONAL SENSOR - Processes to achieve low power discovery and wake-up in the presence of desired 802.11 coverage are disclosed. In one aspect, probabilistic scanning for 802.11 SSID triggers is provided. In another aspect, the 802.11 Access Point (AP) is equipped with a Bluetooth inquiring device, which initiates the wake-up process with a special inquiry access code (IAC). The special IAC can comprise the AP's 802.11 channel. Additional optional sensors (GPS, Gyroscope, odometer, etc) are provided such that probabilistic scanning reduces power consumption and improves the likelihood that an 802.11 channel scan will find a desired SSID. A Bluetooth inquiry allows a discovery process to either wake-up immediately, or ascertain the need for host wake-up by exchanging further information with the AP. Probabilistic scanning allows the use of sensors and historical or pre-loaded information to improve the probability that 802.11 scanning is not required on individual channels, further driving down power needs. | 06-10-2010 |
