PATIENT HANDLING DEVICE - A patient handling device, such as a bed, stretcher, cot, or the like, includes a deck on which a patient may lie and which is surrounded by siderails. Control panels may be mounted on the siderails in a staggered fashion to improve the ease of accessing the control panels. A handle assembly may be included near the top of the Fowler section of the deck which allows a pair of handles to be squeezed independently for manual pivoting of the Fowler section. Squeezing one handle does not increase the force required to subsequently squeeze the other handle. The pivoting of the Fowler section may also be carried out automatically through an electrical actuator. The raising of the deck may be carried out through an electrical pump that pumps hydraulic fluid, and which may be activated near the top end of the stroke of a reciprocating pedal. | 04-14-2011

SECTIONING SCHEME APPLIED TO TWO OR FOUR FOOT CROSS TEE MEMBERS ASSOCIATED WITH A CEILING GRID SYSTEM AND FOR RESIZING BOTH THE CROSS TEE AND ASSOCIATED CEILING TILE FOR INSTALLATION AT A BORDER CUT LOCATION BETWEEN A MAIN TEE AND PARALLEL EXTENDING WALL ANGLE - A cross tee incorporating a measurement scheme for reduce sizing both the cross tee and ceiling tile to fit within a border less than an original length of the cross tee and which spans between a main tee and a parallel extending and wall supported wall angle. The cross tee body exhibiting a tile support and web in cross section and terminating in first and second connector clips. A first marking scheme is applied to the body and includes a first center point designation, with at least one additional 6″ off center designation outwardly and towards each of the connector clip ends. A second marking scheme is applied to the body in complementing fashion to the first marking and identifies 1″ incrementing distances from the center point designation, a furthest-most designation being spaced a remaining distance from the center point of an approximately located connector clip. | 04-16-2009

INTRACELLULAR EXPRESSION AND DELIVERY OF siRNAs IN MAMMALIAN CELLS - The present invention relates to compositions and methods for intracellular expression and delivery of siRNAs in mammalian cells. The siRNA is transcribed intracellularly as a double stranded RNA of about 18 to about 25 base pairs long from an expression cassette. Intracellular expression of siRNA is effective at reducing or eliminating expression of the targeted genes, and is applicable to reverse genetic analysis of genes and to genetic therapy, as for example to inhibiting expression of pathogenic genes and oncogenes. | 02-12-2009

GESTURE-CONTROLLED INTERFACES FOR SELF-SERVICE MACHINES AND OTHER APPLICATIONS - A gesture recognition interface for use in controlling self-service machines and other devices is disclosed. A gesture is defined as motions and kinematic poses generated by humans, animals, or machines. Specific body features are tracked, and static and motion gestures are interpreted. Motion gestures are defined as a family of parametrically delimited oscillatory motions, modeled as a linear-in-parameters dynamic system with added geometric constraints to allow for real-time recognition using a small amount of memory and processing time. A linear least squares method is preferably used to determine the parameters which represent each gesture. Feature position measure is used in conjunction with a bank of predictor bins seeded with the gesture parameters, and the system determines which bin best fits the observed motion. Recognizing static pose gestures is preferably performed by localizing the body/object from the rest of the image, describing that object, and identifying that description. The disclosure details methods for gesture recognition, as well as the overall architecture for using gesture recognition to control of devices, including self-service machines. | 03-19-2009
Behavior recognition system - A system for recognizing various human and creature motion gaits and behaviors is presented. These behaviors are defined as combinations of “gestures” identified on various parts of a body in motion. For example, the leg gestures generated when a person runs are different than when a person walks. The system described here can identify such differences and categorize these behaviors. Gestures, as previously defined, are motions generated by humans, animals, or machines. Multiple gestures on a body (or bodies) are recognized simultaneously and used in determining behaviors. If multiple bodies are tracked by the system, then overall formations and behaviors (such as military goals) can be determined. | 11-05-2009

REALTIME OBJECT TRACKING SYSTEM - A real-time computer vision system tracks one or more objects moving in a scene using a target location technique which does not involve searching. The imaging hardware includes a color camera, frame grabber and processor. The software consists of the low-level image grabbing software and a tracking algorithm. The system tracks objects based on the color, motion and/or shape of the object in the image. A color matching function is used to compute three measures of the target's probable location based on the target color, shape and motion. The method then computes the most probable location of the target using a weighting technique. Once the system is running, a graphical user interface displays the live image from the color camera on the computer screen. The operator can then use the mouse to select a target for tracking. The system will then keep track of the moving target in the scene in real-time. | 05-07-2009

Silent Chain with Asymmetric Involute Profile - A chain link for a silent-type endless chain comprising a plate member having opposing first and second surfaces defining two apertures therethrough and two toes joined at a root. Each toe has an asymmetrical profile defined by a first flank joined to a second flank at a crest wherein the first flanks have a high-pressure involute angle and the second flanks have a low-pressure involute angle that is distinct from the high-pressure involute angle. The first flanks are oriented in a first direction and configured to engage with a plurality of asymmetrical sprocket teeth to transmit power in a first direction. The second flanks are oriented in a second direction distinct from the first and configured to engage with the plurality of asymmetrical sprocket teeth to transmit power in a second direction. | 01-01-2009
HIGH TORQUE CAPACITY THREE OUTPUT DIFFERENTIAL - A differential for interconnecting an input member to a first, second, and third output member includes a housing interconnected with the input member and with the first output member, the housing having a first portion connected to a second portion, the first portion defining a first recess and the second portion defining a second recess, wherein the first recess and the second recess are aligned and cooperate to define a slot. A key member is disposed within the slot between the first portion and the second portion. A cross member is attached to the housing. A set of pinion gears is rotatable about the cross member. A set of side gears is intermeshed with the set of pinion gears, wherein one of the set of side gears is interconnected with the second output member and another of the set of side gears is interconnected with the third output member. | 02-24-2011
