20090242154Molded wet-pressed tissue - A soft, layered, single-ply wet-pressed tissue can be made with improved softness by providing one or both outer layers of the tissue with polysiloxane-treated pulp fibers. A particularly suitable wet-pressing process includes pressing a wet tissue web between a felt and a transfer belt to dewater the web, followed by transfer of the dewatered web to a texturizing fabric where the wet web is provided with a three-dimensional texture. Thereafter the texturized web is transferred to a Yankee dryer, dried and creped. The combination of the polysiloxane fibers and the texturizing step provides a particularly effective combination of surface feel, low stiffness and high bulk (caliper).10-01-2009

20100230430Facial Tissue Product with a Clip Riser - A tissue product, which includes a carton and a stack of tissues, is provided with a flattened arched-shaped sheet that supports the stack of tissues. As the tissues are withdrawn from the carton and the weight of the tissue stack is reduced, the flattened arch-shaped sheet gradually assumes its normal arched shape, thereby raising the stack of tissues within the carton. Raising the stack substantially reduces or eliminates “fall-back”, which is a common dispensing problem, as the stack height is reduced.09-16-2010
20100326616Papermaking Machine Employing An Impermeable Transfer Belt, and Associated Methods - A papermaking machine for making paper includes a forming section, a press section, and a drying section. The paper web is pressed between two press members while enclosed between a press felt and a transfer belt having non-uniformly distributed microscopic depressions in its surface, the web following the transfer belt from the press to a transfer point at which the web is transferred via a suction transfer device onto a structuring fabric, the web then being dried on a drying cylinder. The transfer point is spaced a distance D from the press nip selected based on machine speed, a basis weight of the web, and the surface characteristics of the transfer belt, such that within the distance D a thin water film between the web and the transfer belt at least partially dissipates to allow the web to be separated from the transfer belt.12-30-2010

20090057325Miniature Football Helmet With built-in Insulated Beverage Holder - Invention is a novelty device where a molded polycarbonate miniature football helmet body with a hole in top and bracketry beneath hole for maintaining beverage container; replica facemask, chin strap, buckle-snaps, foam padding, brace-clips, snaps, professional or collegiate team decals, and insulated/freezable beverage holder are assembled to provide a mechanism for consuming beverage from a can/bottle held in place by the insertion of can/bottle through said hole in top of helmet body and captured by insulated/freezable beverage holder where temperature of beverage can be maintained and device owner can place helmet/beverage assembly on a surface or hold device by facemask while consuming beverage from helmet/beverage assembly. One thing that makes invention unique is it provides an insulated/freezable beverage holder mounted inside of a scaled replica football helmet with detailed color and graphics depicting the owner's favorite professional or collegiate team.03-05-2009

20110114071IGNITING COMBUSTIBLE MIXTURES - The disclosure relates methods and related systems for controlling corona discharge in a combustion chamber without causing an arc strike. The methods can include measuring a baseline impedance of a circuit in electrical communication with an electrode, measuring an actual impedance of the circuit, determining an impedance setpoint based at least in part on the baseline impedance, comparing the actual impedance to the impedance setpoint, and adjusting the actual impedance based at least in part on the comparison between the actual impedance and the impedance setpoint. The electrode is arranged to deliver a corona discharge to the combustion chamber.05-19-2011

20090108873Quantum-dot cellular automata methods and devices - A Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) device having normal QCA cells laid out in a planar structure such that there are a set of input lines, that may be columns, and a set of orthogonal, output lines, that may be rows. The device has clocking regions that control the flow of binary signals through the device. The input columns are driven by a separate input signal, and all the cells of each column align to match their input signal. These input columns then serve as drivers for output rows that act as serial shift registers under the control of clock signals applied to sub-sections of the rows. In this way, a copy of the contents of each of the input signals propagates along each of the output rows to an output cell. The output cells of each output row may be assigned their own, latching clock signal.04-30-2009
