Turbo Lag Reducer - A turbo lag reducer is a device which compresses air into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine (providing boost), and does so without the revolution speed restrictions of typical turbo- and super-charger devices. A turbo lag reducer device includes several portions or sections. A common impeller compressor device, an exhaust gas-driven turbine driving device, a mechanically-rotated transmission portion (operably connected to receive and transfer engine rotational movement from the engine to the impeller) and a clutch device. The turbine and the transmission device are both powered by the internal combustion engine into which the turbo lag reducer compresses air. The turbine is driven by high pressure exhaust gasses from the engine's combustion chamber, and also by a transmission device that is mechanically driven from the same engine. The transmission device is operably coupled to an engine and the clutch device (possible a unidirectional, overriding clutch and/or electrical or hydraulic switch type clutch) so as to rotate the clutch device of the turbo lag reducer, which is operably coupled to an impeller compressor. The impeller compressor is thereby caused to rotate by both exhaust flow from the engine's combustion chamber, as well as, by the mechanical rotation of the engine through the transmission device, with the clutch, configured so as to allow or cause either exhaust flow or mechanical means, to supercede the other as is needed to achieve the desired turbo boost, or the desired amount of compressed air for the engine's combustion chamber. | 10-23-2008

Method of Forming Shielded Gate FET with Self-aligned Features - A method for forming a shielded gate field effect transistor includes the following steps. Trenches are formed in a semiconductor region of a first conductivity type. A shield electrode is formed in a bottom portion of each trench, the shield electrode being insulated from the semiconductor region by a shield dielectric. A gate electrode recessed in each trench is formed over the shield electrode, the gate electrode being insulated from the shield electrode. Using a first mask, a body region of a second conductivity type is formed in the semiconductor region by implanting dopants. Using the first mask, source regions of the first conductivity type are formed in the body region by implanting dopants. | 10-01-2009

METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR MANIPULATING THE GUIDED NAVIGATION OF ENDOTHELIAL TUBES DURING ANGIOGENESIS - Methods and compositions for manipulating the directed navigation of physiological tracking tubular structures are provided. A novel cell-bound receptor, roundabout-4 (Robo-4), is described. The Robo-4 receptor shows sequence and structural similarity to members of the roundabout family of receptors. Also, the Robo-4 receptor binds Slit ligand, a known receptor of the roundabout receptors. Polynucleotides and polypeptides of the Robo-4 receptor are described. | 08-04-2011

Enterostatin as Therapeutic Agent for Hypoglycemia - It has been discovered that enterostatin injections into mice caused an increase in blood glucose levels within 15 minutes of injection, and the glucose levels remained high for up to an hour after injection. In addition, mice injected with enterostatin showed less of an initial decrease in blood glucose following an insulin injection. Enterostatin was also shown to decrease AMPK activity in both mice and human tissues, which is additional support that glucose production is increased after enterostatin injection. This ability to enhance glucose production indicates that enterostatin could be used to treat hypoglycemia. | 10-21-2010

SOCIAL CHOICE ENGINE - A social choice engine is disclosed for eliciting and receiving responses to questions or issues and ranking the responses using the Borda ranking system. The social choice engine provides a user interface to a survey administrator that allows for the defining of the social choice survey. The social choice engine also provides a pick list of possible participants, where the possible participants are members of an online community. To administer the social choice survey, the social choice engine sends electronic notifications to selected participants. The participants respond to the social choice survey through a user interface that includes interactive features. The results of the social choice survey are then displayed to the survey administrator. | 09-27-2012

Methods and Systems for Script Operations Management - Systems and methods for detecting, reporting and repairing of damaged scripts used to obtain financial account information from financial institutions are described, along with systems and methods for improved communications to users of financial software of the status of repair efforts. The systems and methods provide for improved speed in repairing script errors. In some embodiments, the script errors may be detected and repaired before a user even notices and/or reports the script error. In addition, the systems and methods provide for automatic detection and prioritization of script errors in conjunction with enhanced response times to script errors reported by users of financial software. Benefits are provided to the user experience, as well as to the efficiency of and resources required of service providers to repair broken scripts. | 08-28-2008
