20090187041 | ESTERS OF (2-HYDROXY-3-OXO-CYCLOPENT-1-ENYL) ACETIC ACID AND THEIR USE FOR PREPARING (-)-R-HOMOCITRIC ACID GAMMA-LACTONE, (+)-S-HOMOCITRIC ACID GAMMA-LACTONE AND THE CORRESPONDING (-)-R-HOMOCITRIC ACID AND (+)-S-HOMOCITRIC ACID SALTS - Archiral (2-hydroxy-3-oxo-cyclopent-1-enyl) acetic acid) alkyl, alkylphenyl and phenyl esters, and a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of both enantiomers of homocitric acid gamma-lactone and the corresponding salts from these esters are described. The method is based on asymmetric oxidation of esters, and the steps of basic and acidic hydrolysis and final acidic lactonization of the homocitric acid into homocitric acid gamma-lactone. The homocitric acid salts are obtained after basic treatment of homocitric acid gamma-lactone. The esters, conditions and reagents used in chemical conversion and separating products are important constituents affording efficient and simple method for production of homocitric acid gamma-lactone and homocitric acid salts. | 07-23-2009 |

20080286769 | Method of Quantitative and/or Comparative Measurement of Mrna Expression Levels in Small Biological Samples - The present invention provides a method for quantitative and/or comparative assessment of the relative amounts of mRNA transcripts present in a cell or tissue sample. In the method reverse transcription of the mRNA contained in the sample is first carried out using sequence-modifying primers for one or several genes in the same reaction to obtain a pool of sequence-modified cDNA molecules. After completion of the reverse transcription redundant sequence-modifying primers are removed or inactivated. This step is followed by a step of co-amplifying the sequence-modified cDNA templates with a reference DNA template in individual gene-specific amplification reactions. By quantitatively measuring the amounts and determining the relative levels of the amplification products derived from sequence-modified cDNA and reference DNA templates, a gene-specific cDNA over DNA ratio is obtained in each of the individual amplification reactions. Finally, by combining the ratios obtained, a sample-specific profile can be generated, which reflects the relative amounts of mRNA transcripts originally present in the sample. | 11-20-2008 |

20150123476 | APPARATUS AND METHOD IN CONNECTION WITH CRANE SHEAVE - An apparatus for collecting energy in connection with a sheave system in a hoisting apparatus provided with a sheave system. The apparatus includes at least one generator including a rotor and at least one stator. The rotor is connected rigidly to a sheave of the sheave system, and the at least one stator is connected rigidly to the sheave system such that when the load of the hoisting apparatus is rising or lowering, said at least one sheave rotates, whereby the rotor rotates simultaneously but the stator does not rotate, whereby electric energy is induced in the stator. The apparatus further includes electric energy storage, a device for modifying induced electric energy and storing it in energy storage; and a device for supplying energy from the energy storage to at least one consumption device. The consumption device may be, for example, a working lamp, sensor, measuring device, communications device, signal device, charging plug or a combination of these mounted in connection with the sheave system. | 05-07-2015 |

20100101463 | COMBUSTION AIR SYSTEM FOR RECOVERY BOILERS, BURNING SPENT LIQUORS FROM PULPING PROCESSES - An arrangement is disclosed for supplying an air jet form to the furnace of a recovery boiler, where the furnace has a front wall, a rear wall and side walls. Black liquor spraying devices are disposed on the furnace walls on one or several levels of the furnace. A plurality of air ports are located at several horizontal elevations for introducing air into the furnace from an air supply. In the arrangement for the secondary air flows, at least two horizontal air levels at different elevations are arranged above the lower primary levels and below the black liquor sprayer. Secondary air is supplied from two opposite walls. The secondary air ports on each of said first and second horizontal elevations comprise air ports for each horizontal elevation that project a pattern of large air jets into the furnace from said opposite walls and said secondary air ports further comprise a plurality of secondary air ports on at least one of the elevations that project smaller air jets into the furnace. | 04-29-2010 |
