20090243204 | Method for Supplying a Web of Material of Predetermined Length to a Printing Press For Producing a Printed Product - A printing device, which is usable to produce printed products, is supplied with a material web of a predetermined length. The length of the required web is defined by the printed product to be produced. The material web is assembled from several partial webs, having defined lengths. The supply of these partial webs to the printing device is provided automatically with the use of a material management system. A control unit of this system determines the length for the partial webs that have been chosen for a certain production request. These partial webs are sent to the printing device in a certain sequence so that the last one of these partial webs to be used has the least web length of the several partial webs. The minimum length of the last partial web is determined by an end of the partial web finishing the production. This sequence is determined, at the earliest, after the cycle time has ended. The cycle time is a time frame in which a material web, or a partial material web is prepared for its respective use in the printing device. | 10-01-2009 |
20120070256 | Devices for Transporting Reels of Material - Reels of material are transported by being disposed on a first transport carriage which is, in turn, disposed on a second transport carriage. The second transport carriage travels between a reel storage area, that has a plurality of storage spaces, and a reel changer of a web-processing machine. The second transport carriage, together with the first transport carriage and the reel of material that is deposited on the first transport carriage then travels to an offload or unload position of the reel changer. | 03-22-2012 |

20110202161 | SECURING A HAZARDOUS AREA IN THE REGIN SURROUNDING THE AUTOMATIC LOADING OF RRELS ON A REEL CHANGER - A hazardous area in the region surrounding a reel transport of a reel changer is secured. A contactless protective device is located at the access boundaries of the region. This protective device can be deactivated for feeding and/or removing a known object and comprises an evaluation unit. The protective device is configured as a light curtain that is comprised of a plurality of light beams that run in parallel to each other. The evaluation unit includes an assembly for detecting the sequence of the interruption of the light beams during the feeding and/or the removal of an object. Based on the detected sequence of interruption of the light beams, a known object, that is permitted to access the hazardous area, is detected. The protective device is deactivated in this situation. Securing the hazardous area further includes the provision of a second contactless protective device that is permanently active. | 08-18-2011 |

20130008996 | REEL CHANGER HAVING A SECURING MEANS FOR A SAFETY AREA - A reel changer of a printing press has a securing assembly for a safety area. The safety area extends on a receiving end or on a dispensing side of the reel changer at least over the entire width to the end-face side frames. These side frames comprise vertically supported frame parts and optionally also include switch boxes end or side boxes that are arranged directly on the side frames. The safety area is substantially completely enclosed by the reel changer and by one or more connected units and or mechanical blocking devices and by one or more sensor-monitored access assemblies in such a way that operators can enter during operation only by the use of the one or more monitored access assemblies. A control element for controlling functions of the reel changer is physically separate from the reel changer and is arranged at a distance from the side frames at a location that can be reached by an operator positioned outside the safety area. | 01-10-2013 |
