20080303198SHEET METAL GROUND CONDUCTOR CLAMP - A ground conductor clamp has a sheet metal clamp body with overlapped portions. The clamp body may be stamped from sheet metal. The overlapped portions have aligned circular holes in them for receiving a threaded insert nut inserted into them. The insert nut is spin riveted to attach it to the overlapped portions of the clamp body. A flange of the insert nut has a flat face that engages the clamp body to prevent rotation of the insert nut. The overlapped portion includes an inner bent tab that strengthens the sheet metal clamp body. The clamp also includes a threaded fastener, such as a bolt, that is threaded into the insert nut to engage a conductive lead and a ground conductor, such as a ground rod or ground electrode.12-11-2008
20090057498CABLE SUPPORT AND METHOD - A J-hook cable support includes a semicircular saddle, a stem at one side of the saddle, and a tip at the other side of the saddle. The stem includes protruding tabs able to engage snap-on brackets in order to engage structural parts, or to couple multiple cable supports together. The stem may have two pairs of tabs at different heights along the stem away from the saddle. The tabs may be bent pieces of the metal of the stem, bent toward the back of the stem, away from the cable-receiving area defined by the saddle. The snap-on brackets may include one or more pairs of notches for engaging the tabs of one or more of the cable supports. A wire retainer may be used to close off the cable-receiving area, with the wire coupled to both the tip and the stem.03-05-2009
20090266944CLAMP FOR CIRCULAR OBJECTS - A clamp includes first and second parts, each of the parts having a circular central section and a pair of straight extensions extending away from the circular central section in opposite directions. In the first part the holes are closed holes, while in the second part the holes are open holes, connected by slots to an upper edge of the part. Bolts may be pre-located through the closed holes, with nuts threaded onto the bolts, but not tightened. The pre-placed bolts may be received through the slots and into the open holes of the second part. The nuts may then be tightened against the second part to clamp the circular central sections on opposite sides of a circular object, such as a vertical pipe run, between the parts. According to a variant, the bolts are permanently secured to the first part so as to prevent rotation of the bolts.10-29-2009
20100037554CABLE LOCKING DEVICE AND METHOD - A locking device includes a main housing with one or more plunger sets therein for gripping a cable. The plunger sets each have two or more pieces, for example plunger pieces, that are partially within a bore in the main housing. The plunger halves or pieces have teeth on inner surfaces, for gripping a cable that runs through the bore, between the plunger halves or pieces. A spring within the bore biases the plunger set to one side of the bore, a location in which the plunger halves or pieces are pressed together, causing the inner surface teeth to bite into the cable to secure the cable. A nut is threadedly connected to a threaded outer surface of the plunger halves, outside of the bore, to allow the plunger set to be moved within the bore, to allow disengagement of the cable from the teeth.02-18-2010
20100108840QUICK THREADED ROD LOCKING DEVICES AND METHOD - A threaded rod hanger has quick lock plunger mechanism that includes plunger pieces within a tapered bore in a housing. The plunger pieces have tapered outer surfaces. A spring within the housing presses the plunger pieces toward the narrow end of the bore, with the spring located between the plunger pieces and a back plate that closes off part of a wide end of the tapered bore. The plunger pieces have internally threaded surfaces that engage threads on a threaded rod that is inserted into the bore, between the plunger pieces. Once the threaded rod has been inserted between the plunger pieces and released, the plunger pieces are pushed toward the narrow bore end. This causes the plunger pieces to press inward, automatically causing the internal plunger half threads to engage the external threads on the threaded rod.05-06-2010

20110169965SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUSES FOR DETECTING DIGITAL TELEVISION (DTV) COMMUNICATIONS SIGNALS - Embodiments of the invention may provide systems and methods for detecting the presence a DTV signal such as an ATSC DTV signal. The system and methods may be applied to a received RF signal that has been down-converted to a baseband or low-IF digitized signal. The systems and methods may detect a presence of a DTV signal by searching for its characteristic pilot signal, known to reside in a fixed frequency range for all valid DTV signals. This pilot signal may be extracted by processing the baseband or low-IF signal in multiple stages. The first stage may reduce the signal information to that pertaining to the frequency band covering all valid pilot frequencies and commensurately reduces the sampling rate, and hence computational complexity of subsequent operations. A second stage may then efficiently operate on this reduced rate signal to focus on a series of particular pilot frequencies for interrogation. For each such candidate frequency, the cyclostationarity of the signal may be measured and tested for statistical significance relative to the background energy to yield an effective test that is invariant with respect to the background noise level. In a simplified case, this can correspond to measuring the energy in a very tight candidate subband normalized against the energy from a larger subband. Furthermore, the energy in the candidate subband can be taken as the energy in a Fourier series coefficient.07-14-2011

201102655592-D MEMS TRIBOMETER WITH COMB DRIVES - A microelectromechanical (MEMS) nanoindenter transducer including a body, a probe coupled to and moveable relative to the body, the probe holding a removeable indenter tip, a first micromachined comb drive and a second micromachined comb drive. The first micromachined comb drive includes an actuator comprising a plurality of electrostatic capacitive actuators configured to drive the probe along a first axis, including in an indentation direction, in response to an applied bias voltage, and a displacement sensor comprising a plurality of differential capacitive sensors having capacitance levels which together are representative of a position of the probe relative to the first axis. The second micromachined comb drive includes an actuator comprising a plurality of electrostatic capacitive actuators configured to drive the probe along a second axis, which is perpendicular to the first axis, in response to an applied bias voltage, and a displacement sensor comprising a plurality of differential capacitive sensors having capacitance levels which together are representative of a position of the probe relative to the second axis. Each of the electrostatic capacitive actuators and the differential capacitive sensors comprises an electrode comb pair, each electrode comb pair including a fixed electrode comb coupled to the body and a moveable electrode comb coupled to the probe.11-03-2011
