Pass-through grounding plug - An electrical connector and a method of use of the electrical connector during installation of an Optical Network Terminal (ONT). The ONT includes a power supply unit having a pass-through grounding plug. The pass-through grounding plug includes an electrically-conductive grounding prong that is operable to engage a ground conductor of an electrical component. For installation purposes, for example, using existing home wiring, the grounding prong may be retractable, removable and foldable into a body of the plug. When installing the ONT, one would determine whether a power source to which a power supply unit of the ONT is to be connected is within a predetermined distance from an installation location of the ONT. Further, one would determine whether the power source includes a ground conductor. In instances where there is not a ground conductor, the grounding prong may be removed, folded, or retracted into the body of the plug. | 03-05-2009

FIBER OPTIC CABLE INTERFACE COVER AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME - A cable interface housing cover is disclosed. The cable interface housing cover is connected to a cable interface portion of a cable interface housing. The cable interface housing cover includes a U-shaped portion and a hinged portion connected to a rotating axis. The hinged portion is configured to rotate about the rotating axis upon being handled by the end user to expose the cable interface housing to allow a cable to be inserted into the cable interface housing once the housing cover is lifted via a lifting operation. | 05-27-2010
CLEANING APPARATUS FOR SANITIZING FURNISHINGS - A cleaning apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a casing that defines an inlet opening on a first surface thereof and an outlet opening on a second surface thereof. An elongate path is formed therebetween for receiving an article to be cleaned. A sanitizing device is carried by the casing in proximity to the path for sanitizing the article to be cleaned. A first roller is carried by the casing and extends into the path. The first roller is configured to rotate in the direction of the path to thereby translate the article to be cleaned from the inlet opening to the outlet opening. | 04-28-2011
CLEANING APPARATUS FOR SANITIZING FURNISHINGS - A cleaning apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a mount member configured for extending along a dimension of an article to be cleaned and maintaining a predetermined distance from an apparatus facing surface of the article to be cleaned. A first engaging member is carried on a first end of the mount member and a second engaging member carried on a second end of the mount member. The first and second engaging members cooperate for engagement about the article to be cleaned. A casing is carried by the mount member and is configured for slideable translation about the mount member along the dimension of the article. The casing also defines an article sanitizing portion on an article facing portion thereof. The article sanitizing portion includes at least one sanitizing device for sanitizing the article to be cleaned. | 04-28-2011

Method and system for controlling a vehicle given to a third party - A method and system for controlling a vehicle given to a third party. The system includes a system controller; a mode-indicating device coupled to the system controller; and an authenticator coupled to the system controller. Here, the system controller is adapted to communicate a driving restriction to the vehicle upon an activation of the mode-indicating device by an authorized driver and until a deactivation of the mode-indicating device by the authorized driver, the system controller is adapted to restrict the activation and the deactivation of the mode-indicating device unless the authorized driver has been authenticated by the authenticator, and the driving restriction includes a limit selected from the group consisting of a limit in number of starts, a limit in speed, a limit in acceleration, a limit in number of minutes, a limit in distance, a limit in gears, a limit in locations, and combinations thereof. | 06-17-2010

LASER BEAM POSITIONING SYSTEMS FOR MATERIAL PROCESSING AND METHODS FOR USING SUCH SYSTEMS - Laser beam positioning systems for material processing and methods for using such systems are disclosed herein. One embodiment of a laser-based material processing system, for example, can include (a) a radiation source configured to produce a laser beam and direct the beam along a beam path toward a material processing area, and (b) a laser beam positioning assembly in the beam path. The laser beam positioning assembly can include a first focusing element, first and second reflective optical elements (e.g., movable mirrors), and a second focusing element. The first focusing element can focus the laser beam to a first focal point between the first and second reflective optical elements. The first and second reflective optical elements can direct the laser beam toward the material processing area while the laser beam has a decreasing or increasing cross-sectional dimension (e.g., diameter). The second focusing element can focus the laser beam and direct the beam toward a material processing area to modify a workpiece at least proximate to the material processing area. | 02-26-2009

CONNECTION WITH TAIL PIECE FOR A PRESS-FITTING - An adapter integrates a tail piece and connection for coupling to plumbing fittings utilizing a union nut or flange and provides a press-fit connection to the tail piece for installation in the system. The method of manufacturing the adapter comprises the steps of forming a flange on a section of conduit; placing a threaded union nut or mounting flange over the flange fitting; roll-forming an internal, concave annular recess into the section of conduit extending from the nut and inserting an O-ring into the recess for completing the adapter. The adapter can then be sealably attached to a plumbing fitting, such as a valve or the like, utilizing a conventional flat gasket between the flange of the adapter and the plumbing fitting. The installation is completed by inserting a conduit into the adapter to clear the O-ring and crimping the bead formed by the recess to complete the sealed connection. | 06-11-2009

Pyrolysis machine having heated rollers rotating at different speeds - Useful byproducts are recovered through the pyrolytic processing of biomass material such as vegetation, paper, or worn tires. The process is conducted in a sealed enclosure under vacuum or other controlled atmosphere. The biomass material is ablated and burned by crunching between counter-rotating rollers rotated at different speeds whose inner walls have been exposed to a highly heated fluid. The biomass material is preheated by injecting into the feeding duct super-heated dry steam. A condenser within the enclosure reduces resulting vapors into oils that can be drained from the enclosure pan. Solid combustion residue is abstracted from the enclosure by an Archimedes screw. | 04-21-2011
