20080207959ETHANOL PROCESSING WITH VAPOUR SEPARATION MEMBRANES - A process for separating vapours, for example for separating water from ethanol, uses a gas separation membrane unit. Permeate from the membrane unit is compressed and may be used for example as heating steam for distillation. The membrane unit may have two or more stages. Permeate from a stage may be condensed and used for example as fermentation make up water, compressed and fed to the permeate from an upstream stage or heating steam, or fed to another membrane stage for further dewatering. The gas separation membrane unit may be used to remove water from a fermentation broth that has been partially dewatered, for example by one or more of a distillation column or molecular sieve.08-28-2008
20090246848PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR DEWATERING CELLULOSIC FERMENTATION PRODUCTS - A liquid mixture of water and a small percentage of an alcohol, for example a cellulosic fermentation broth, is converted into a mixture of vapours. The vapour mixture includes an increased percentage of alcohol vapour relative to the liquid mixture but is mostly water vapour. Water vapour is removed from the vapour mixture by permeation through a vapour separation membrane unit. Retained vapour has an increased alcohol content, optionally to the level of a fuel grade alcohol. Heat energy in permeate or product vapours or both may be recovered, for example by us as heating steam or by flow through a heat exchanger. The membrane unit may have two or more stages. Permeate from a stage may be condensed and used for example as fermentation make up water, compressed and fed to the permeate from an upstream stage or heating steam, or fed to another membrane stage for further dewatering.10-01-2009
20090301970ETHANOL PLANT RETROFIT WITH VAPOUR SEPARATION MEMBRANES - A system and process removes water from an aqueous fermentation product, for example ethanol, using distillation upstream of a first membrane separation unit to produce hydrous alcohol. Optionally, molecular sieves may be used to further dewater the hydrous alcohol. Another system or process removes water from hydrous ethanol using molecular sieves with a second membrane separation unit to process a regeneration stream. Optionally, there may be a distillation column in the regeneration stream upstream of the membrane separation unit. Further optionally, additional hydrous ethanol may be process through the distillation column or second membrane separation unit, by-passing the molecular sieve unit. These systems and processes may be combined and may be used, individually or together, to retrofit an existing ethanol plant.12-10-2009
20110126707EMISSION TREATMENT PROCESS FROM NATURAL GAS DEHYDRATORS - The off-gas from the still and flash tank of an existing glycol-based dehydration unit (containing water vapor, methane, BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene), VOCs (volatile organic compounds)) is sent directly to a gas separation membrane system for dehydration. The gas separation membrane has a high selectivity for water over organic compounds (for example, the membrane described in WO2005/007277A1). The driving force for water permeation is established by applying a vacuum on the permeate side of the membrane unit or by flowing a sweep gas, for example warm, dry air through the permeate side of the unit.06-02-2011

20090001872ZINC OXIDE THIN FILM ELECTROLUMINESCENT DEVICES - A thin film electro-luminescent device (TFEL) includes an active layer made of a direct bandgap semiconductor material, e.g. zinc oxide, doped with exciton binding centers, such as aluminum, in small amounts, e.g. 0.001 at % to 30.0 at %. The exciton binding centers prevent free excitons, created by impact ionization, from diffusing toward and recombining at native defect centers. To provide a columnar structure, a polycrystalline seed layer is deposited first to provide a template, followed by the deposition of an overlying layer forming columns in accordance with the template.01-01-2009
20090128029LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE WITH A STOPPER LAYER STRUCTURE - Electroluminescent (EL) devices structures are provided comprising a hot electron stopper layer structure to capture hot electrons and dissipate their energy, thereby reducing damage to the transparent conducting oxide (TCO) layer and reducing other hot electron effects, such as charging effects, which impact reliability of EL device structures. The stopper layer structure may comprise a single layer or multiple layers provided between the TCO electrode layer and the emitter structure, and may also function to reduce diffusion or chemical interactions between the TCO and the emitter layer structure. Optionally, stopper layers may also be provided within the emitter structure. Suitable stopper layer materials are wideband gap semiconductors or dielectrics, preferably transparent at wavelengths emitted by the EL device characterized by high impact ionization rates, and/or high relative permittivity relative to adjacent layers of the emitter structure.05-21-2009

20120033720Digital Interface Between a RF and Baseband Circuit and Process for Controlling Such Interface - Process for controlling the switching of the data rate at a digital interface exchanging data and control messages between a Radio Frequency (RF) circuit and a digital circuit, comprising the steps of: setting by default the data rate to a low speed (LS) rate having a density presenting a first lobe being inferior to the frequency band considered in said RF circuit so as to prevent desensitization of the LNAs by the noise produced by said digital interface; storing the data and control messages message into a FIFO and monitoring the level of said FIFO; whenever the level of said FIFO reaches a predetermined threshold value, then controlling said interface to switch to a second high speed (HS) rate in order to flush said FIFO. In one embodiment, the LS frequency is set to a value of 832 MHz, thus preventing simultaneously desensitization of the GSM band and also the GPS band.02-09-2012

20090008125INSULATING CONTROL DEVICE AND METHOD FOR VEHICLE PROXIMITY REMOTE - A system and method for controlling the radio frequency emissions of a proximity remote keyless system for permitting or denying remote access to premises of a vehicle. The source power is controlled to thereby control when the vehicle is authorized to start. The proximity remote can thus be left in the vehicle and controlled by another external source. The device of the invention is adapted to be inserted between a battery, which powers the proximity remote, and insulates the battery from an associated battery base contact. The device comprises a conductive contact on opposite sides of an insulating plate and at least one wire connected to each conductive contact. The wires can be connected to an external device, thus allowing external electrical or mechanical control of the proximity remote, with the proximity remote being only able to transmit to the vehicle if the battery is connected to the battery base contact.01-08-2009
