20080252431System and method for asset tracking - A system and method for asset tracking utilizing a wireless device. An asset such as a vehicle can be equipped with a 3-axis geomagnetic sensor and an accelerometer in association with a remote control hardware component capable of responding to SMS (Short Message Service) command transmitted from the wireless device. As soon as the theft of the asset is detected, a “Theft in progress” SMS data can be transmitted from the wireless device to the remote device attached to the asset. The device then queries the geomagnetic sensor and the accelerometer at a pre-defined rate and transmits the X-Y-Z coordinates and acceleration values to the cell phone/computer via SMS at regular intervals. The device can also log the route of vehicle in a non-volatile memory which can be queried utilizing a “Request History” command.10-16-2008

The first base station and the second base station are of different cell types. The method then informs a paging controller about the movement of the communication device along with information associated with the communication device when at least one of the first base station and the second base station is a femtocell. 20100173652METHOD FOR PAGING A MS IN A MIXED DEPLOYMENT - Method for paging a MS in a mixed deployment of femto paging areas and macro paging areas in the network is provided. The presence information of the MS is tracked using at least two paging areas when the MS is in a first zone, wherein the first zone is overlapped by a femto paging area and a first macro paging area and the MS is subscribed to a set of CSG femto cells that are allowed for the MS in the femto paging area. The two paging areas are the femto paging area and the first macro paging area. The presence information of the MS is received by the network when the MS moves from the first zone to a second zone, wherein the second zone is overlapped by the femto paging area and a second macro paging area. The network, based on the received presence information, pages the MS only in a subset of the CSG femto cells that are allowed for the MS in the second zone.07-08-2010

The MS, in connected mode, moves from a cell of a legacy base station to a cell of an ABS and scans base stations from a list of neighbouring base stations, wherein at least the ABS is listed as another legacy base station in the list of neighbouring base stations. The MS performs the handoff to connect to a legacy zone of the ABS. Further, the multimode MS switching from the legacy zone of the ABS to a advanced zone of the ABS based on a Zone Switch request or command is triggered by either the multimode MS or the ABS. The Zone Switch request is triggered after detecting capabilities of either the multimode MS or the ABS that they support advanced zone. The capabilities are detected by using MAC versions of the multimode MS and the ABS or an indicator for the advanced zone. The multimode MS can also performs handoff to the advanced zone from the cell of the legacy base station by receiving one or more information for ranging in the advanced zone from the ABS during the handoff.01-07-2010
