20110070385TUBULAR ARTICLES WITH VARYING WALL THICKNESS - A method for manufacturing a one-piece axle tube housing with localized sections of increased wall thickness includes providing a tube blank, inserting a mandrel having a reduced diameter profile, passing the tube through an extrusion die to conform the tube to the shape of the mandrel; and extraction of the mandrel from the tube to cause outward deformation of the tube at specific locations. A further reducing step may be used to form the final desired profile, including reduced inner and outer diameters along sections of the axle tube housing.03-24-2011

20090074281Method for Energy Calculation and Pileup Determination for Continuously Sampled Nuclear Pulse Processing - A method for processing events in a medical imaging device may comprise the steps of receiving analog signals from at least one PMT into an Applied Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) comprising a Constant Fraction Discriminator (CFD) and transmitting analog outputs from the ASIC. Further, sampling the analog outputs continuously using an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) and transmitting digital outputs; and collecting a number of samples of the digital output during a sampling period using a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) when triggered by the CFD. The method may additionally determine the energy of the analog signals from the at lease one PMT by subtracting the peak value of each signal from the baseline value of each signal, wherein the peak value is determined as an average of at least one sample taken only around the peak during the sampling period, and the baseline value is determined as an average of at least one sample taken only around the beginning or end of the sampling period.03-19-2009
20110010486REALTIME LINE OF RESPONSE POSITION CONFIDENCE MEASUREMENT - A PET event position calculation method using a combination angular and radial event map wherein identification of the radial distance of the event from the centroid of the scintillation crystal with which the event is associated as well as angular information is performed. The radial distance can be converted to a statistical confidence interval, which information can be used in downstream processing. More sophisticated reconstruction algorithms can use the confidence interval information selectively, to generate higher fidelity images with higher confidence information, and to improve statistics in dynamic imaging with lower confidence information.01-13-2011

20120111109Solids Circulation System and Method for Capture and Conversion of Reactive Solids - A solids circulation system receives a gas stream containing char or other reacting solids from a first reactor. The solids circulation system includes a cyclone configured to receive the gas stream from the first reactor, a dipleg from the cyclone to a second reactor, and a riser from the second reactor which merges with the gas stream received by the cyclone. The second reactor has a dense fluid bed and converts the received materials to gaseous products. A conveying fluid transports a portion of the bed media from the second reactor through the riser to mix with the gas stream prior to cyclone entry. The bed media helps manipulate the solids that is received by the cyclone to facilitate flow of solids down the dipleg into the second reactor. The second reactor provides additional residence time, mixing and gas-solid contact for efficient conversion of char or reacting solids.05-10-2012

20100207408REMOTE DEVICE ACCESS SYSTEM - A remote device access system is provided. The system includes a receiving member, an engaging head and a containment cage. The receiving member is configured to be coupled to a device (such as a smoke detector and the like) that is to be positioned in an out of arms reach location. The engaging head is configured to be coupled to an elongated member. The engagement head is further configured to selectively engage the receiving member coupled to the device. The containment cage is configured to be coupled to a surface at the out of arms reach location. The containment cage forms a containing chamber that is configured to selectively hold the device. The elongated member is configured to place and remove the device from the containing chamber of the containment cage via the engaging head and receiving member.08-19-2010

20110093708METHOD FOR PERSONALIZING AN AUTHENTICATION TOKEN - An authentication token using a smart card that an organisation would issue to its customer, the smart card having a processor for executing a software application that is responsive to a user input to generate a one-time password as an output. The smart card co-operates with an interface device for inputting the user input and displaying the one-time password. The authentication token may be used in combination with a remote authentication server for validation of the password and hence authentication of the user.04-21-2011
