20100078870MEDIA ADVANCE CALIBRATION - A method of calibrating a media advance in a printer includes providing a mask to specify a printing configuration of a calibration target; forming a media feed calibration target on the print media by: i. printing the calibration target on a print media using an array of the marking elements, ii. advancing the print media by a media advance amount, iii. printing the calibration target on the print media using the array of the marking elements; iv. advancing the print media by the previous media advance amount plus an offset amount, and v. repeating steps iii. and iv. until the media feed calibration target is complete; measuring the optical reflectance of the media feed calibration target as a function of position along the media feed calibration target; identifying a position along the media feed calibration target corresponding to the location at which a maximum in the optical reflectance occurs; and comparing the location at which a maximum in the optical reflectance occurs to a predetermined location of the media feed calibration target to calibrate media advance in the printer.04-01-2010
20100079534MARKING ELEMENT REGISTRATION - A method of measuring a relative offset between a first array of marking elements and a second array of marking elements in a printer; a registration target; and a printer are provided. The method includes printing a target by printing a first group of pixels using a plurality of marking elements from the first array and printing a second group of pixels using a plurality of marking elements from the second array; scanning the target to measure an optical characteristic of the target as a function of position along the target; and identifying a position at which an extreme in the optical characteristic of the target occurs.04-01-2010
20100238511EFFICIENT IMAGE PRINTING WITH MULTIPLE-SIZED DOTS - A method for printing an image with a printing system including the steps of multitoning image data to produce a multitoned image having a multitone resolution; providing a look-up table, wherein each look-up table entry specifies a number of dots of a first size and a number of dots of a second size; using the look-up table to expand the multitoned image data from the multitone resolution to a print-ready image having a printing resolution; and printing the print-ready image using a first array of dot forming elements for forming dots of a first size and a second array of dot forming elements for forming dots having a second size that is greater than the first size.09-23-2010
20100271416MEDIA ADVANCE CALIBRATION - A method of calibrating a media advance in a printer includes providing a mask to specify a printing configuration of a calibration target; forming a media feed calibration target on the print media by: i. printing the calibration target on a print media using an array of the marking elements, ii. advancing the print media by a media advance amount, iii. printing the calibration target on the print media using the array of the marking elements; iv. advancing the print media by the previous media advance amount plus an offset amount, and v. repeating steps iii. and iv. until the media feed calibration target is complete; measuring the optical reflectance of the media feed calibration target as a function of position along the media feed calibration target; identifying a position along the media feed calibration target corresponding to the location at which a maximum in the optical reflectance occurs; and comparing the location at which a maximum in the optical reflectance occurs to a predetermined location of the media feed calibration target to calibrate media advance in the printer.10-28-2010

20080242647Use of Molt-Accelerating Compounds, Ecdysteroids, Analogs Thereof, and Chitin Synthesis Inhibitors for Controlling Termites - The subject invention relates in part to the oral administration of ecdysteroids for controlling subterranean termites. Preferred ecdysteroids for use according to the subject invention are ecdysone, certain ecdysone analogs, and 20-hydroxyecdysone, for example. In some preferred embodiments, one or more of these compounds is used in a termite bait in combination with one or more chitin synthesis inhibitors (CSI), such as hexaflumuron and/or noviflumuron. The subject invention also relates to mixtures comprising these two active ingredients. The ecdysteroid analog or molt-accelerating compound (MAC) typically induces a preliminary molting event in termite workers, which then allows the CSI to further disrupt the molt and cause mortality. The combination of these active ingredients, causing accelerated molting together with inhibition of chitin synthesis, is surprisingly shown herein to enhance activity against termites, as compared to either group of compounds alone.10-02-2008
20080268008Methods to Control Termites - This invention is related to the field of methods useful to control termites, especially, subterranean termites.10-30-2008
20110189122Use of Molt-Accelerating Compounds, Ecdysteroids, Analogs Thereof, and Chitin Synthesis Inhibitors for Controlling Termites - The subject invention relates in part to the oral administration of ecdysteroids for controlling subterranean termites. Preferred ecdysteroids for use according to the subject invention are ecdysone, certain ecdysone analogs, and 20-hydroxyecdysone, for example. In some preferred embodiments, one or more of these compounds is used in a termite bait in combination with one or more chitin synthesis inhibitors. Thus, the subject invention also relates in part to controlling termites by the use of a chitin synthesis inhibitor (CSI), such as hexaflumuron and/or noviflumuron, together with an ecdysteroid (and analogs thereof) or molt-accelerating compound (MAC), such as halofenozide. The subject invention also relates to mixtures comprising these two active ingredients. The MAC/ecdysteroid analog induces a preliminary molting event in termite workers (they could not complete the molting), which then allows the CSI to further disrupt the molt and cause mortality. The combination of these active ingredients, causing accelerated molting together with inhibition of chitin synthesis surprisingly shown herein to enhance activity against termites, as compared to either group of compounds alone.08-04-2011

20120036093Waveform Mapping Technique and Process for Tracking and Estimating Evolution of Semantic Networks - In certain embodiments, a computer-implemented method includes accessing first and second data associated with a semantic network, the first data indicating a first plurality of nodes within the semantic network and a first plurality of relationships between the first plurality of nodes at a first time, and the second data indicating a second plurality of nodes within the semantic network and a second plurality of relationships between the second plurality of nodes at a second time. The method further includes generating a first waveform from the first data and a second waveform from the second data. The waveforms indicate an activity level of each of the nodes within the semantic network. The method further includes analyzing the semantic network using the generated first and second waveforms.02-09-2012
