20100200500Bubble-Less Gas Delivery Into Liquid Systems - A system for saturating a liquid with a gas followed by bubble-less delivery and mixing of the gas-saturated liquid into a gas-unsaturated liquid wherein a biological process is occurring. The system comprises a gas-saturation unit which controllably communicates with a bioreactor unit containing a gas-unsaturated liquid wherein a biological process is occurring. The gas saturation unit comprises a sealable pressure-resistant vessel for receiving therein an unsaturated liquid and wherein the liquid is saturated with a gas under pressure. The rate of introduction of gas-saturated liquid into the bioreactor unit is controllable to make it equivalent to the rate of gas consumption by the biological process occurring in gas-unsaturated liquid contained within the bioreactor unit. The invention is particularly useful for bubble-less gas delivery to open and closed bioreactor configurations for wastewater treatment processes.08-12-2010

20100073361INTERACTIVE DESIGN, SYNTHESIS AND DELIVERY OF 3D CHARACTER MOTION DATA THROUGH THE WEB - Systems and methods are described for animating 3D characters using synthetic motion data generated by generative models in response to a high level description of a desired sequence of motion provided by an animator. In a number of embodiments, an animation system is accessible via a server system that utilizes the ability of generative models to generate synthetic motion data across a continuum to enable multiple animators to effectively reuse the same set of previously recorded motion capture data to produce a wide variety of desired animation sequences. In several embodiments, an animator can upload a custom model of a 3D character and the synthetic motion data generated by the generative model is retargeted to animate the custom 3D character. One embodiment of the invention includes a server system configured to communicate with a database containing motion data including repeated sequences of motion, where the differences between the repeated sequences of motion are described using at least one high level characteristic. In addition, the server system is connected to a communication network, the server system is configured to train a generative model using the motion data, the server system is configured to generate a user interface that is accessible via the communication network, the server system is configured to receive a high level description of a desired sequence of motion via the user interface, the server system is configured to use the generative model to generate synthetic motion data based on the high level description of the desired sequence of motion, and wherein the server system is configured to transmit a stream via the communication network including information that can be used to display a 3D character animated using the synthetic motion data.03-25-2010

20080289951Thermochemical Cycle for Production of Hydrogen and/or Oxygen Via Water Splitting Processes - A method for the production of hydrogen via thermochemical water splitting includes the steps of providing an ammonium sulfite compound, dissolving the ammonium sulfite in water, and oxidizing the aqueous ammonium sulfite solution, wherein hydrogen is produced as a water reduction product associated with the oxidation. If purified air is used instead for the oxidation of aqueous ammonium sulfite solution, the method produces oxygen from the purified air. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the oxidation is a photooxidation. Light for the photoxidation can be provide by a direct light source, such as solar energy, or indirectly from conversion of electrical energy to light, such as using a UV or visible light lamp. Electrical energy can be provided by a variety of sources, including low cost sources comprising wind driven, water driven (hydroelectric), or nuclear power.11-27-2008
20090188164METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR HYDROGEN SULFIDE REMOVAL - A method and system for hydrogen sulfide removal from a sour gas mixture including hydrogen sulfide includes providing an aqueous solution comprising a transition metal oxide, sulfide or carbonate compound, wherein a transition metal of the transition metal oxide is at a first valence and has at least one reduction state from the first valence. The sour gas mixture is reacted with the transition metal compound and the aqueous solution in a reactor, wherein sulfide from the hydrogen sulfide is oxidized to form elemental sulfur and the transition metal is reduced to form a reduced state transition metal compound. An electrochemical redox reaction is performed including the reduced state transition metal compound to regenerate the transition metal compound in an electrolyzer comprising an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte membrane between the anode and cathode, wherein an oxygen including gas is added to the cathode during the electrochemical redox reaction. The transition metal compound that is regenerated in the electrochemical redox reaction is then returned to the reactor for the reacting.07-30-2009
