20100296903END EFFECTOR FOR HANDLING SUBSTRATES - Embodiments of the present invention provide an end effector for a substrate handling robot. In one embodiment, the end effector comprises one or more Bernoulli chucks surrounded by a plurality of suction cup devices. In one embodiment, the suction cup devices are configured in the form of a bellows to provide both cushioning and lateral stability to the substrate. In one embodiment, the suction cup devices further include an air pressure device to provide light positive pressure to the substrate during release. Embodiments of the end effector described herein provide a small vacuum pressure over a large area of ultra-thin substrates to minimize damage during handling.11-25-2010

20100183630Tat-005 and Methods of Assessing and Treating Cancer - Surprisingly, the present inventors have discovered that expression of TAT-005 protein in human patients is associated with cancer, and that the over-expressed protein is present in plasma membrane fractions. Thus, the present inventors have discovered that TAT-005 is associated with abnormal development and growth, and may be useful as a target for the identification of anti-cancer com\ pounds, including antibodies for use in immunotherapy. Accordingly, the present invention provides methods for the identification of compounds that inhibit TAT-005 expression or activity, comprising: contacting a candidate compound with a TAT-005 and detecting the presence or absence of binding between said compound and said TAT-005, or detecting a change in TAT-005 expression or activity. Methods are also included for the identification of compounds that modulate TAT-005 expression or activity, comprising: administering a compound to a cell or cell population, and detecting a change in TAT-005 expression or activity. The methods of the invention are useful for the identification of anti-cancer compounds.07-22-2010

20090004101Method and Means for Enhanced Pulmonary Drug Delivery - The present invention provides a method of enhancing the absorption of molecules across the airway epithelium, thereby enhancing the delivery of desired therapeutic or diagnostic agents across the airway epithelium via the systemic circulation to the target site of action. The method comprises administration of a formulation comprising a pharmaceutical composition comprising a synthetic or natural nucleoside diphosphate, nucleoside triphosphate, or dinucleoside polyphosphate, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Preferably the nucleotide is a P2Y receptor agonist which is administered at any time during treatment with a therapeutic or diagnostic agent. A preferred embodiment is a method of administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising a P2Y receptor agonist with enhanced resistance to extracellular hydrolysis, such as dinucleoside polyphosphate compounds.01-01-2009

20090052786COMPUTER VISION-BASED METHODS FOR ENHANCED JBIG2 AND GENERIC BITONAL COMPRESSION - A system and method of symbol matching may include a processor configured to determine which pixels of a first symbol are tangent pixels; for each of the determined tangent pixels, determine whether a second symbol includes a pixel corresponding to the tangent pixel that includes at least one same tangent constraint as that of the tangent pixel; accept the first and second symbols as a match based on shared tangent constraints conditional upon a determination that the second symbol includes for each of at least a subset of the tangent pixels of the first symbol a corresponding pixel that includes the at least one same tangent constraint as that of the tangent pixel; and generate a document including a single symbol that is mapped to the first and second symbols.02-26-2009
20090067709PERCEPTUALLY LOSSLESS COLOR COMPRESSION - A system and method of color data compression may perform variations of MRC compression including taking into consideration means and/or variances within k×k cells of an image, background texture, background smoothed color, and gradient components for determination of which parts of an image belong to the background and foreground MRC layers, for calculating thresholds values for such determinations, and determining correctness of determined thresholds and polarity, and may determine the background and foreground layer colors based on the variances, the gradient components, and neighboring pixels of non-color-assigned pixels of the background and foreground layers.03-12-2009
