20120111190AIR PURIFICATION AND DECONTAMINATION SYSTEM - A closed loop air handling system for monitoring and cleaning air from corrosive contaminants. Commonly occurring corrosive elements found in air can react in combination together and with other environmental conditions to increase the propensity for corrosion to occur. The higher corrosive level of air can react with metals causing degradation, wear and often lead to premature failure. This is especially prevalent in environments using forced air convection for cooling, such as data centers. The electronic circuitry is especially vulnerable to such corrosion and requires an environmentally controlled atmosphere with mild corrosiveness for long term reliability. The invention involves circulating the air in a closed loop and monitors and adjusts parameters of active filtration and purification to minimize corrosive agents. The system maintains a milder corrosive environment and better accommodates the use of “free cooling” from outside air for improved energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions. Air quality data is also collected and used to estimate equipment life time expectancy and substantiate warranty claims over exceeding manufacturers recommended environmental operating conditions.05-10-2012

20120247007METHOD IN COMMERCIAL MUSHROOM HARVESTING - A method for mushroom cultivation is developed which requires no manual picking and a limited packaging step. The invention also induces lesser chances of contamination and provides longer shelf life to the mushrooms. The device used for production of mushrooms comprises two parts, one basal plate perforated with holes for the mushroom pins to emerge into the container. The apertures/holes on the base of the container may be covered with casing material. The other portion is the top part functioning as a cover which could be used to secure the container in order to prevent contamination from out side, maintain the moisture level and also maintains the micro environment for growing mushrooms. The top cover is preferably also perforated for the escape of excessive moisture. When mushrooms are ready to pick, the whole container is removed and preserved at a lower temperature, such as 4° C. in a cooler or refrigerator. This method will significantly reduce the cost of mushroom production by virtually eliminating the process of harvesting and packaging. This technique of mushroom cultivation also enhances the shelf life by minimizing the level of contamination due to direct human touch and minimum exposure to the outer environment.10-04-2012

20080240951SYSTEM AND METHOD OPERABLE TO PREVENT TUBING DISPLACEMENT WITHIN A PERISTATLTIC PUMP - Embodiments to the present invention provide a peristaltic pump. This peristaltic pump includes a flexible flow path, an exterior casing, an elastomeric member, and a number of rollers driven by a motor. The exterior casing and elastomeric member have a first and second annular recess, respectively. An annular flow path guide is formed when the exterior casing and elastomeric member are mechanically coupled. Rollers move along the annular flow path to compress and release the flexible flow path and in so doing draw fluid through the flexible flow patch to achieve pumping action. Mechanical guides proximate to the first annular recess and second annular recess prevent relative motion between the first annular recess and second annular recess ensuring that the flexible flow path remains in place.10-02-2008

20100072080Functionalized Nanopipette Biosensor - Disclosed are methods and devices for biomolecular detection, comprising a nanopipette, exemplified as a hollow inert, non-biological structure with a conical tip opening of nanoscale dimensions, suitable for holding an electrolyte solution which may contain an analyte such as a protein biomolecule to be detected as it is passed through the tip opening. Biomolecules are detected by specific reaction withy peptide ligands chemically immobilized in the vicinity of the tip. Analytes which bind to the ligands cause a detectible change in ionic current. A sensitive detection circuit, using a feedback amplifier circuit, and alternating voltages is further disclosed. Detection of Il-10 at a concentration of 4 ng/nl is also disclosed, as is detection of VEGF.03-25-2010
20100261619Charge Perturbation Detection System for DNA and Other Molecules - Methods and apparatus for direct detection of chemical reactions are provided. In a preferred embodiment, electric charge perturbations of the local environment during enzyme-catalyzed reactions are sensed by an electrode system with an immobilized target molecule. The target molecule is preferably DNA. The charge perturbation caused by the polymerase reaction can uniquely identify a DNA sequence. The polymerization process generates local perturbations of charge in the solution near the electrode surface and induces a charge in a polarazible gold electrode. This event is detected as a transient current by a voltage clamp amplifier. Detection of single nucleotides in a sequence can be determined by dispensing individual dNTPs to the electrode solution and detecting the charge perturbations. Alternatively, multiple bases can be determined at the same time using a mix of all dNTPs with subsequent analysis of the resulting signal. The initial enzyme attachment to the DNA molecule can be detected prior to polymerization, with electrode capacitance measurement using the same voltage-clamp amplifier. This technique and device may be adapted to other reaction determinations, such as enzymatic reactions, other electrode configurations, and other amplifying circuits.10-14-2010
20110020806Rapid DNA Sequencing by Peroxidative Reaction - Disclosed is a method of polynucleic acid (e.g., DNA) sequencing which is based on the generation of pyrophosphate (PPi) that occurs when a complementary base is incorporated into a growing DNA strand being synthesized on a template. The method utilizes a cascade of enzymatic reactions catalyzed by hypoxanthine-phosphoribosyl transferase, xanthine oxidase, and peroxidase in addition to DNA polymerase and apyrase. The last chemical step in the cascade of reactions is the oxidation of a material such as an electrode or luminol by hydrogen peroxide. This generates a detectable electrical or optical signal. This method is independent of luciferase, does not require dATP analogue, and is intended to improve precision and sensitivity of DNA sequencing, and to lessen the unsynchronized polymerization.01-27-2011

In addition, modified nucleic acids, such as peptide nucleic acids, are used as blocking probe to stop polymerization on the flanking region which makes it possible to use pyrosequencing for DNA length measurement both in the case of homozygous or heterozygous samples for varying repeat patterns of different markers. Further, dideoxynucleotides are added to stop polymerization in the flanking region of the STR.08-25-2011

20100082754SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING INSTANT MESSAGES - Various aspects relate to using structured messages within one or more systems that implement instant messaging function in a distributed computing environment. In particular, structured information may be encoded and embedded in unstructured instant messages and communicated among one or more computer systems, networks, applications or other entities. In one aspect, instant messaging may be leveraged as middleware for application integration. Other aspects relate to using structured message information to perform functions in a distributed instant messaging system. For example, structured message information may be used to control the display of instant message information to a user, or may be used to control how the instant message information is distributed, processed, or otherwise handled by a receiving system, application or process. Other aspects relate to an interface for displaying information relating to a number of instant messaging conversations to a user. Further, aspects relate to using instant messaging in a trading environment.04-01-2010
