20140082947 | METHOD FOR CREATING ATOMICALLY SHARP EDGES ON OBJECTS MADE OF CRYSTAL MATERIAL - A process to make atomically sharp cutting devices is described. The process may provide for a cost effective and efficient technique of producing the atomically sharp cutting devices made from single crystal material such as, for example, sapphire, silicon carbide, silicon, and the like. The process may include identifying and choosing a preferred geometric orientation of the crystal material where cleavage can be promoted along a preferred natural plane of the single crystal material, thus ultimately producing an atomically sharp edge. The single crystal material may be covered at select surface locations by a photo-resist material arranged in a predetermined alignment with reference to the preferred plane to prevent etching at unexposed surface portions while permitting etching at exposed surface portions of the single crystal material. An atomic edge may be created by physical cleaving once the etching has reached a predetermined end-point. | 03-27-2014 |

20140107697 | Clamping Forceps and Associated Methods - Clamping forceps and associated methods are provided that generally include a head section including first and second clamp members configured to cooperatively clamp so as to at least partially encircle a tumor or other structure, an elongated body section in cooperation with the head section, and a clamping mechanism at least partially movably mounted with respect to the elongated body section. The clamping forceps may include a control mechanism for variably controlling the clamping force, at least one sensor mounted with respect to the clamp member(s), means for fixating the clamp member(s) relative to tissue, the first and second clamp members structured to define a variable perimeter extent, and a clamping mechanism which accommodates variable rates of clamping action. Actuation of the clamping mechanism generally maintains substantially parallel actuation of the first and second clamp members with respect to the tumor or the other anatomical structure. Methods for use of the clamping forceps may include introducing the head section to the surgical site through an incision; positioning a trocar port at the surgical site; introducing at least a portion of the elongated body section to the surgical site through the trocar port; intra-corporeally connecting the head section with respect to the elongated body section; and extra-corporeally actuating the clamping mechanism so as to actuate the first and second clamp members into a clamping position around the tumor or other anatomical structure. | 04-17-2014 |

20120290066 | INTRODUCER WITH RATCHET HANDLE DRIVE - A stent graft introducer has stent graft releasably retained onto a deployment catheter and a sheath encloses the stent graft. A handle assembly has a handle, a first slide and a second slide. The first slide retracts within the second slide and the second slide retracts within the handle. An actuation arrangement comprises a first longitudinal gear rack on the first slide, a second longitudinal gear rack on the second slide and a ratchet lever assembly on the handle. Actuation of the ratchet lever assembly causes the second slide to fully retract into the handle at which time the ratchet lever assembly engages the first gear rack through an aperture in the second rack and continued actuation causes retraction of the first slide thereby retracting the sheath from the pusher to expose the stent graft. | 11-15-2012 |
20130131774 | ROTATION OPERATED DELIVERY DEVICE - An endovascular introducer which has a handle assembly, a stent graft deployment device and a stent graft retained on the stent graft deployment device. The handle assembly has a first part and a second part, the second part to be moved relative to the first part. The first part has a fixed portion to be gripped and held by a user and a rotating portion to be rotated. A one way clutch arrangement transfer rotation to co-acting first screw threads so that relative longitudinal motion between the first part and the second part occurs. The deployment device has a pusher assembly and a sheath to cover the stent graft on the pusher assembly. The sheath is connected to the second part so that rotation of the rotating portion causes retraction of the sheath. | 05-23-2013 |
