20110307881MULTI-BRANCH MANAGEMENT FOR UPDATING SOFTWARE - A system for managing updates of an executable component in accordance with an updating tree with multiple branches is provided. In one implementation, specific updates are provided to users with specific problems while general updates are provided to all users of the executable component. A range of lower version numbers is reserved for the general updates. When a specific update with a version number higher than those in the reserved range has been installed on a computing device, an installer may prevent a new general update with a lower version number to be installed. The installer may determine a new specific update corresponding to the general update and provide an indication to the user to install this new specific update instead of the general update. This multi-branch update delivery system enables users to elect to receive only updates that are necessary.12-15-2011

20110090342MULTI-MODE IMAGING IN THE THERMAL INFRARED FOR CHEMICAL CONTRAST ENHANCEMENT - A system and method for analyzing a sample is disclosed. At least a portion of the sample is illuminated with modulated light from a light source, such as an infrared light source. Infrared energy from the sample is monitored with an infrared detector as the sample is being illuminated with the modulated light. The AC response of the infrared energy is analyzed to determine at least one of emission data or reflection data about the sample. The emission data or the reflection data can be used to enhance chemical contrast between varying substances on the sample.04-21-2011

20100149537IMPROVED SIGNAL PROCESSING FOR OPTICAL COMPUTING SYSTEM - The present subject matter relates to methods of high-speed analysis of product samples during production of the product. Light is directed to a portion of a product under analysis and reflected from or transmitted through the product toward optical detectors. Signals from the optical detectors are compared to determine characteristics of the product under analysis. Temperature within the monitoring system may be monitored in order to provide compensation for the signals produced by the optical detectors. The products under analysis may be stationary, moved by an inspection point by conveyor or other means, or may be contained within a container, the container including a window portion through which the product illuminating light may pass.06-17-2010

20090048972System and Method for an Emergency Reserve During a Covered Event Using Actuarial Data - A system and method for providing emergency conditional credit to a customer of a financial institution. The system includes a customer site and a financial institution. The financial institution determines actuarial data using past history of customers incurring specified events, the actuarial data useable to predict future specified events, determines a cost for offering an emergency reserve (ER) product using the actuarial data, determines a qualification standard for the ER product, and offers the ER product to a person at the customer site. An emergency reserve protection (ERP) feature that provides protection that cancels any ER balance on a monthly basis during a covered event may also be offered to customers. One or more vendor sites may be used to handle some of the processing or managing of the ER and ERP product offerings.02-19-2009
20100306108EMERGENCY FINANCIAL RESERVE ACCESSIBLE DURING A COVERED EVENT - A system and method for providing emergency reserve conditional credit to a customer of a financial institution. The emergency conditional credit may be provided to the customer in the form of a line-of-credit or a loan based on the occurrence of a predetermined condition, such as involuntary unemployment, disability or the like. The emergency reserve product of the present invention is a product that can be offered through a financial institution or other ER-providing entity and, as such, does not require the level of regulation required of an insurance product. The invention also provides for the emergency reserve product to be offered in conjunction with a debt cancellation feature, referred to as emergency reserve protection, which serves to cancel the outstanding debt associated with the loan or line-of-credit.12-02-2010

20090000822Rock Core Removal Method and Apparatus - A rock core removal method and apparatus allows efficient, safe, and reliable removal of a rock core sample. An inner collet tube and an outer ground tube, within a drill tube, protect the core sample during drilling. At depth, the collet tube is raised with respect to the ground tube so that the conical wall of the ground tube pushes constricting fingers on the collet tube inward, gripping the core sample within. The collet tube and ground tube are then raised, rotated, or raised and rotated, applying the necessary force to break the core sample off of the substrate. After retracting the tubes, the collet tube is lowered with respect to the ground tube to release the core sample. An ejection rod then pushes the core sample out of the collet tube. The ground tube may also act as the actuating means for a quick-change drill-bit release feature.01-01-2009
20110203855DRILLING AND CORE REMOVAL APPARATUS AND METHOD - A drilling and core removal apparatus has a quick-change drill bit release mechanism. A drilling and core removal apparatus has a drill bit and a ground tube within the drill bit, wherein the ground tube having a geometric feature that causes cuttings to be ejected from between the drill bit and the ground tube. A drilling and core removal apparatus has a sensor for indicating that a core sample in a collet tube is approaching a stuck condition.08-25-2011
