20090011713SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DISTANCE MEASUREMENT IN WIRELESS NETWORKS - Systems and methods for distance measurement in wireless networks are disclosed. A method for measuring distance between nodes or devices in a wireless network comprises estimating a distance between network devices based on a first distance measurement method, estimating the distance based on a second distance measurement method, and processing the first and second distance estimates to determine convergence and to generate an enhanced distance measurement. Additional distance estimates may be combined to further improve accuracy. Convergence information may be provided indicating whether two or more distance estimates converge. In some implementations, the first distance estimate may be generated by a transmission time estimation method, the second distance estimate may be generated by a received signal strength distance estimate, the two estimates may be combined by averaging to generate an enhanced distance estimate, and the difference between the estimates may be compared to a threshold to determine whether the estimates have sufficiently converged to within a desired convergence range.01-08-2009

20100030521Method for analyzing and classifying process data - Process data mining system and method. The system analyzes data from complex process plants or systems and operates in open-book and closed-book modes. In closed-book mode, the system monitors incoming data sets against pre-defined clusters of data values and generates reports, indicating whether incoming data is a match or a no-match with the pre-defined clusters. In open-book mode, the system generates initial clusters, without having a-priori knowledge of the component or process, and also creates clusters “on the fly”, thereby fine-tuning the analysis. A knowledge base encompasses a combination of parameters for a particular component. Clusters are defined within the knowledge base, each cluster representing a particular operating condition. The system expands clusters, within pre-defined limits, or creates new clusters, as needed, in order to accommodate incoming data values. Newly created clusters are then named, so as to indicate the particular operating conditions.02-04-2010

20090075674CRC-Based Message Detection/Demodulation Apparatus and Method for Radio Frequency Signals - A method for determining a location of a wireless transmitting device transmitting a digitally modulated transmitted radio frequency signal. The method comprises, at spaced-apart receivers: generating a received radio frequency signal and including time tags therein responsive to the transmitted radio frequency signal, detecting a destination message signal responsive to the received radio frequency signal, comparing the destination message signal and the received radio frequency signal and determining a time of arrival of the destination message signal responsive to the step of comparing and responsive to the time tags. The method further comprises determining a pairwise time difference of arrival of the received radio frequency signal for two pairs of receivers and determining the location of the device responsive to the pairwise time difference of arrival.03-19-2009
20100259448METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR HEALTH MONITORING OF AN OVER THE AIR GEO-LOCATION SYSTEM - A method for testing each one of a plurality of receiving sites operative in a time difference of arrival geo-location system. The method comprises determining a theoretical time of arrival of a test message at each receiving site assuming the test message was transmitted from a test message transmitting antenna at a known location; determining a measured time of arrival of the test message at each receiving site, the test message transmitted from the test message transmitting antenna; determining a true time of arrival of the test message at each receiving site, the true time of arrival comprising the measured time of arrival less a start time of the test message; determining a difference between the theoretical and the true times of arrival for each receiving site, wherein the difference for each receiving site is indicative of a health of the receiving site.10-14-2010
20110090807Method and System for Analyzing Radio Performance During Over-the-Air Operation - An apparatus for determining operating characteristics of radio-frequency (RF) transmitting devices while the devices are in normal operation transmitting over-the-air RF signals. The apparatus comprises at least one signal sensor for receiving the RF signals, each sensor responsive to the RF signals received at a plurality of antennas or received at a directional antenna, an analyzer for determining signal parameters of received RF signals and for determining operating characteristics of the transmitting devices from the signal parameters, wherein each RF signal includes an identifier of the transmitting device, the apparatus using the identifier to link operating characteristics determined from the RF signals to the transmitting device, and a graphical user interface for displaying the operating characteristics for each transmitting device.04-21-2011
