20100062049 | AQUEOUS FORMULATION FOR SELECTIVE TARGETING AND DELIVERING GENE TO CANCER CELLS - The present invention relates to a cationic lipid based aqueous formulation comprising cationic lipid, dexamethasone and a neutral co-lipid, wherein the said formulation is useful for selective targeting and delivering gene to glucocorticoid receptor expressing cancer cells. Glucorticoid receptors (GR) express in various normal and cancer cells. A lot of ligand activated physiological functions are known involving GR but its role in cancer progression (if any) is not clearly understood. Synthetic GR antagonist, dexamethasone (Dex) finds use as anti-inflammatory drug and is known to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. This Dex is included in a cationic lipid-based formulation as a co-lipid to deliver to and express genes specifically in cancer cells possibly through expressed GR. Gene delivery to cancer cells is independent of the gene construct, and tumor cell line. Normal transformed cells expressing GR but with no cancer lineage show much smaller level of transfection. The composition of the formulation is optimized. The formulation may have particular application to the enhanced delivery of anticancer genetic constructs to cancer, with the synergistic effect of Dex in inducing apoptosis as such. | 03-11-2010 |

20100258784 | Method Of Efficient Coupling Of Light From Single-Photon Emitter To Guided Radiation Localized To Sub-Wavelength Dimensions On Conducting Nanowires - A cavity free, broadband approach for engineering photon emitter interactions via sub-wavelength confinement of optical fields near metallic nanostructures. When a single CdSe quantum dot (QD) is optically excited in close proximity to a silver nanowire (NW), emission from the QD couples directly to guided surface plasmons in the NW, causing the wire's ends to light up. Nonclassical photon correlations between the emission from the QD and the ends of the NW demonstrate that the latter stems from the generation of single, quantized plasmons. Results from a large number of devices show that the efficient coupling is accompanied by more than 2.5-fold enhancement of the QD spontaneous emission, in a good agreement with theoretical predictions. | 10-14-2010 |

20160060726 | GREEN PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF PURE IRON - The present invention relates to an eco-friendly and single step process for the preparation of high purity iron by using hydrogen plasma in a suitable smelting reactor furnace. Reduction of iron oxide in excess of 99% can be achieved by reducing the iron ore in hydrogen plasma smelting system. The product quality is greatly improved as there is no instance of coke inclusion which otherwise would have carried carbon, sulphur, phosphorous, silica, etc. with it. In addition, this greatly diminishes carbon dioxide emission thereby making the process highly eco-friendly in nature. Apart from these, the process produces water as the only by-product. The process takes care of the green house effect with the non-involvement of gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide during the operation. Thus, the present process is developed to produce high pure iron in a hydrogen plasma reactor without using carbon as reductant which thereby reduces the carbon dioxide emission drastically. | 03-03-2016 |
