20090108057Using Quick Response Codes to Provide Interactive Services - Systems and methods are described that include using quick response (QR) codes with mobile devices for providing interactive applications and services to a user via the mobile devices. Embodiments use a scanner in the mobile device to scan the QR code of an object. The QR code or data of the QR code is transferred from the mobile device to a specific URL. A selected multimedia object corresponding to the QR code is retrieved from the URL or a database. The selected multimedia object is transferred to the mobile device for playback.04-30-2009
20090112604Automatically Generating Interactive Learning Applications - Systems and methods are described for generating an interactive voice response (IVR) application from a state transition table and set of extensible markup language templates. Embodiments include representing an interactive student-computer dialog as a state transition table. The target interactive voice and video response (IVVR) markup language is encoded as a discrete set of extensible templates. The dialog states are mapped to IVVR markup language by selecting appropriate extensible templates and instantiating parameterized elements of each template with dialog state constituents. Embodiments organize the extended templates coherently and package the extended templates for deployment on an IVVR delivery platform.04-30-2009

20090273998BITCELL CURRENT SENSE DEVICE AND METHOD THEREOF - A memory device includes a sense amplifier to sense the state of a bitcell. The sense amplifier includes two input terminals connected via a switch. One of the input terminals is connected to a node, whereby a current through the node represents a difference in current drawn by a bitcell and a reference current. During a first phase, the switch between the input terminals of the sense amplifier is closed, so that a common voltage is applied to both input terminals. During a second phase, the switch is opened, and the sense amplifier senses a state of information stored at the bitcell based on the current through the node. By using the switch to connect and disconnect the inputs of the sense amplifier in the two phases, the accuracy and speed with which the state of the information stored at the bitcell can be determined is improved.11-05-2009

20100272130HIGH-EFFICIENCY Ho:YAG LASER - A laser assembly and method of operating the assembly are described in which a pump beam is directed through an end-pumped solid-state laser gain medium four or more times. The pump beam is directed at a slight angle through a first end of the medium, reflects off the inner surface of the second, opposite end (to form a ā€œVā€), and then reflected by an external or integrated mirror back through the first end and off the inner surface of the opposite end again (back through the ā€œVā€).10-28-2010
20110013264QUASI NON-CRITICAL PHASE MATCHED AND CONTRA-PHASE MATCHED STRUCTURES - Adhesive-free bond non-linear optical (NLO) components, devices and systems including one or more engineered quasi non-critical phase matched or contra-phase matched NLO crystal doublets. Such systems and devices advantageously increase the efficiency of NLO frequency conversion and improve beam quality. Devices are applicable to any uniaxial and biaxial NLO crystals in a wide range of wavelengths, e.g., from far ultraviolet to visible to far infrared. Devices employing engineered AFB NLO components according to certain embodiments include any conventional frequency converting architectures. 20090276591EXTENSIBLE APPLICATION BACKUP SYSTEM AND METHOD - An archive method and system receives a backup request for a target dataset used by an application on a primary storage system to be backed up on a secondary storage system. Different applications may each have a corresponding proprietary application format for storing their datasets. An application translator module is loaded into an extensible backup manager that converts between a proprietary application format associated with the target dataset and a predetermined storage format used by the extensible backup manager. The application translator module converts from the proprietary application format into the predetermined storage format when the baseline backup of the target dataset has not yet been performed. An incremental backup uses the application translator module to convert from the proprietary application format associated with the application into the predetermined storage format of the extensible backup manager. Once completed, a data mover component causes the incremental backup and the baseline backup of the entire target dataset, if scheduled, to be moved from the primary storage to the secondary storage and stored in the predetermined storage format rather than the proprietary application format associated with the application.11-05-2009
