20110220499Non-focusing tracers for indirect detection in electrophoretic displacement techniques - A novel method for visualizing electrokinetic process zones (e.g., for isotachophoresis (ITP)) is provided. We introduce negligibly small concentrations of a fluorophore that is not focused by isotachophoresis. This non-focusing tracer (NFT) migrates through multiple isotachophoresis zones. As it enters each zone, the NFT concentration adapts to the local electric field in each zone. ITP zones can then be visualized with a point detector or camera. The method can be used to detect, identify, and quantify unknown analyte zones, and can visualize complex and even transient electrophoresis processes. This visualization technique is particularly suited to microfluidic and lab-on-a-chip applications, as typical fluorescence microscopes and CCD cameras can provide high-resolution spatiotemporal data.09-15-2011

20120110313ENHANCED REBOOT COMMAND - A method and system allows a computer system to perform a network reboot in response to an enhanced reboot command. The computer system receives a command to load an operating system and interprets the command to determine whether a physical machine or a virtual machine is to be rebooted. In response to a determination that the command indicates the use of a network option, the computer system loads the operating system from a networked server, and perform rebooting according to the interpreted command with the use of the operating system.05-03-2012

20100081132BIOSENSORS AND BIOSENSING INCORPORATING RF AND MICROWAVE REDIATION - Devices capable applying microwave and RF electromagnetic radiation to specific molecular interactions between a capture molecule and a target analyte and capable of sensing the specific molecular interaction are provided. Specific molecular interactions include, for example, specific recognition events such as, receptor-ligand, antigen-antibody, DNA-protein, sugar-lectin, RNA-ribosome, and enzyme substrate interactions and nucleic acid-nucleic acid hybridizations. Additionally, methods are provided for detecting the presence or absence of a target analyte in a sample. The presence or absence of the target analyte is detected, in part, through the detection of a binding complex between the target analyte and a capture molecule in the presence of microwave and or RF electromagnetic radiation.04-01-2010
