ANTIHAZING AGENT FOR NONCRYSTALLINE CYCLOOLEFIN RESINS, RESIN COMPOSITIONS, AND OPTICAL ELEMENTS - An antihazing agent for noncrystalline cycloolefin resins which can inhibit the hazing of the resins due to fine cracking caused by environmental change, particularly, environmental change from high temperature and humidity atmosphere to ordinary temperature and humidity atmosphere without losing the characteristics inherent in the resins to keep the transparency of the resins and inhibit the light transmittance thereof from lowering; noncrystalline cycloolefin resin compositions containing the agent; and optical elements made from the compositions. A compound component containing a metal rosinate as the main component is used as the antihazing agent for noncrystalline cycloolefin resins. It is particularly preferable that the antihazing agent further contain one or more members selected from the group consisting of alkali metal salts, alkaline earth metal salts, and Group 12 metal salts. | 01-15-2009

MOTORCYCLE - A motorcycle prevents an increase in air resistance and prevents wind and mud from hitting a rider during travelling of the motorcycle. A side cover of the motorcycle includes a first side cover and a second side cover. The first side cover is disposed laterally outwards of a head pipe and a front fork. The second side cover is disposed laterally outwards of a portion of the first side cover. A lateral end of the second side cover is positioned laterally outwards of the first side cover. A rear edge of the first side cover is at least partially positioned rearwards of a rear edge of the second side cover. | 02-23-2012

Antibody Substituting for Function of Blood Coagulation Factor VIII - The present inventors produced a variety of bispecific antibodies that specifically bind to both F. IX/F. IXa and F. X, and functionally substitute for F. VIIIa, i.e., have a cofactor function to promote F. X activation via F. IXa. Among these antibodies, the antibody A44/B26 reduced coagulation time by 50 seconds or more as compared to that observed when the antibody was not added. The present inventors produced a commonly shared L chain antibody from this antibody using L chains of A44, and showed that A44L can be used as commonly shared L chains, although the activity of the resulting antibody is reduced compared to the original antibody (A44HL-B26HL). Further, with appropriate CDR shuffling, the present inventors successfully produced highly active multispecific antibodies that functionally substitute for coagulation factor VIII. | 01-07-2010

FIXING DEVICE - A fixing device configured to fix a toner image on a moving printing medium includes: a fixing heat generator that generates heat by electromagnetic induction; a fixing medium that rotates and is heated while being carried by the heating medium; and a pressing member that presses a back surface of the printing medium coming into contact with the fixing medium, the fixing heat generator including a center coil and a pair of side coils provided at a center portion and both side portions thereof along a direction vertical to the direction of movement of the printing medium for heating the fixing medium by induction heating, the pressing member including a center heater and a side heater that heat a center portion and both side portions thereof in a direction vertical to the direction of movement of the printing medium integrated therein, and includes a side temperature sensor that senses at least one of the temperatures of the both side portions in a widthwise direction vertical to the direction of movement of the printing medium, and a heater control unit that turns the side heater OFF when the temperature that the side temperature sensor senses exceeds a predetermined temperature. | 10-15-2009
FIXING DEVICE AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR - A fixing device includes a fixing belt, exercitation coils for induction-heating the fixing belt, power supplies that supply high-frequency power to the excitation coils, an output power detecting circuit that detects output electric energy of the power supplies, a power control circuit that controls the output electric energy of the power supplies, and temperature sensors that detect the temperature of a surface portion of the fixing belt. When electric energy applied to the excitation coils during the power fall reaches minimum power set in advance larger than 0 W, the power control circuit maintains the minimum power while the temperature detected by the temperature sensors is within a predetermined control temperature range and controls output power of the induction heating power supplies to shift from the minimum power to 0 W when the detected temperature deviates from the predetermined control temperature range. | 10-15-2009
