20090057623DNA-BASED FUNCTIONALIZATION OF SINGLE WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES FOR DIRECTED ASSEMBLY - Disclosed herein is an article comprising a nucleic acid-carbon nanotube molecular composite in selective communication with at least one of a plurality of material phases; the selective communication being the result of an affinity of functional groups present in the nucleic acid-carbon nanotube molecular composite for the at least one of the plurality of material phases; the material phases being at least a part of a substrate; the nucleic acid-carbon nanotube molecular composite comprising at least one of i) a nucleic acid disposed on a functionalized carbon nanotube; ii) a functionalized nucleic acid disposed on a carbon nanotube; and iii) a functionalized nucleic acid disposed on a functionalized carbon nanotube to form a nucleic acid-carbon nanotube molecular composite.03-05-2009
20110057153DNA-BASED FUNCTIONALIZATION OF SINGLE WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES FOR DIRECTED ASSEMBLY - Disclosed herein is a method of orienting a carbon nanotube comprising functionalizing a nucleic acid or a carbon nanotube with a plurality of functional groups to form either a functionalized nucleic acid or a functionalized carbon nanotube; disposing a nucleic acid on a functionalized carbon nanotube or a functionalized nucleic acid on a carbon nanotube or a functionalized nucleic acid on a functionalized carbon nanotube to form a nucleic acid-carbon nanotube molecular composite; adsorbing the nucleic acid-carbon nanotube molecular composite upon a substrate; the substrate comprising a plurality of material phases, at least one of which the nucleic acid-carbon nanotube molecular composite has an affinity for; and orienting the nucleic acid-carbon nanotube molecular composite so that it contacts two or more identical material phases.03-10-2011

20100293719Combination treatment device and an anterior support device - A combination of a treatment device and an anterior support device is disclosed. The combination includes a treatment device having an edge and an attachment member movably secured thereto and an anterior support device having an elongated member which interacts with the attachment member. The anterior support device has first and second pivotable connectors, one being secured to the elongated member and the other to a padded rest. The anterior support device also includes first and second movable rods secured to the first and second pivotable connectors. A second end of the first movable rod is rotatably connected to a second end of the second movable rod and an actuating mechanism is connected to both of the second ends of the rods. The actuating mechanism enables the first and second rods to be locked in a set position to maintain the padded rest in a desired orientation relative to the treatment device.11-25-2010

20080264504Control Valve Having "C" Seal - A control valve having a shiftable valve plug includes a valve body having an inlet, an outlet, a flow passage extending between the inlet and the outlet, and defining a longitudinal axis, a generally cylindrical valve cage disposed within the valve body and sized to receive the valve plug, with the valve cage including at least one aperture comprising at least a portion of the flow passage, a portion of the valve cage disposed adjacent a portion of the valve body at an interface. A seal having a C-shaped cross section is provided and is disposed at the interface between the valve cage and the valve body, and a retainer is disposed adjacent the interface and positioned to secure the seal against movement along the longitudinal axis.10-30-2008
20090057595Fluid Pressure Control Device Having a Throttling Element Seal - A fluid flow control device includes a body defining an inlet, an outlet, and a fluid flow path extending from the inlet to the outlet. A valve seat ring is coupled to the body and defines an orifice through which the fluid flow path passes. A cage is also coupled to the body and defines an interior bore, wherein the cage includes at least one passage through which the fluid flow path passes. A throttling element is sized for insertion into the cage interior bore and movable along an axis between open and closed positions. The throttling element defines a sealing surface oriented substantially parallel to the axis. A seal is positioned to engage the sealing surface when the throttling element is substantially in the closed position, thereby to restrict fluid flow through the valve seat ring orifice.03-05-2009
20100044613CONTROL VALVE HAVING "C" SEAL - A control valve having a shiftable valve plug includes a valve body having an inlet, an outlet, a flow passage extending between the inlet and the outlet, and defining a longitudinal axis, a generally cylindrical valve cage disposed within the valve body and sized to receive the valve plug, with the valve cage including at least one aperture comprising at least a portion of the flow passage, a portion of the valve cage disposed adjacent a portion of the valve body at an interface. A seal having a C-shaped cross section is provided and is disposed at the interface between the valve cage and the valve body, and a retainer is disposed adjacent the interface and positioned to secure the seal against movement along the longitudinal axis.02-25-2010
