20100085383RENDERING ANNOTATIONS FOR IMAGES - Techniques are described for rendering annotations associated with an image. A view of an image maybe shown on a display, and different portions of the image are displayed and undisplayed in the view according to panning and/or zooming of the image within the view. The image may have annotations. An annotation may have a location in the image and may have associated renderable media. The location of the annotation relative to the view may change according to the panning and/or zooming. A strength of the annotation may be computed, the strength changing based the panning and/or zooming of the image. The media may be rendered according to the strength. Whether to render the media may be determined by comparing the strength to a threshold.04-08-2010
20100238164IMAGE STITCHING USING PARTIALLY OVERLAPPING VIEWS OF A SCENE - An “Oblique Image Stitcher” provides a technique for constructing a photorealistic oblique view from a set of input images representing a series of partially overlapping views of a scene. The Oblique Image Stitcher first projects each input image onto a geometric proxy of the scene and renders the images from a desired viewpoint. Once the images have been projected onto the geometric proxy, the rendered images are evaluated to identify optimum seams along which the various images are to be blended. Once the optimum seams are selected, the images are remapped relative to those seams by leaving the mapping unchanged at the seams and interpolating a smooth mapping between the seams. The remapped images are then composited to construct the final mosaiced oblique view of the scene. The result is a mosaic image constructed by warping the input images in a photorealistic manner which agrees at seams between images.09-23-2010
20110302527ADJUSTABLE AND PROGRESSIVE MOBILE DEVICE STREET VIEW - Intuitive and user-friendly user interface (UI) techniques are provided for navigating street view applications on a mobile device enabling users to view different angles and segments of available street level images. Additionally, retrieval and presentation of street view images are managed to mitigate delays in retrieval of desired images from a server over wireless connections through techniques such as textual representations, replacement views, scheduling image requests, and comparable ones.12-08-2011

20100125532METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MODELING ECONOMIC CONDITIONS AS APPLIED TO MULTIPLE RISK GRADES - A computerized method includes scoring a plurality of loans, and banding the plurality of loans into risk pools on the basis of the scores associated with the plurality of loans. The computerized method also includes modeling a change in y-intercept and slope of the natural log of the odds to the loan scores relationship, using that predicted log odds to calculate the probability of default for the plurality of risk pools over time as a function of a set of macro-economic data. A machine readable medium provides instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to perform the above on a system for determining an amount of capital to hold in reserve for a plurality of loan risk pools and to set strategies for managing risk for a plurality of risk pools.05-20-2010

20100081416VIRTUAL SKYWRITING - Users with mobile computing devices author skywriting and submit them to a virtual skywriting service. A mobile computing device having wireless network access is configured to capture a digital image of a real world scene including sky. The image is captured while the mobile computing device is in a geographical location or area. While the mobile computing device is still in the geographical location or area, it transmits via the wireless network a request for virtual skywriting. The request is received by a skywriting service that obtains or determines the geographical location/area that the computing device is in or near. The skywriting service selects a skywriting from among the previously submitted skywritings; the skywriting may be selected based on its having been entered at or associated with the geographical location. The mobile device receives the virtual skywriting from the service and displays a version of the digital image with the virtual skywriting added to the sky in the version of the digital image. Either the service or the mobile device may render the skywriting onto the image. Various effects may be applied in rendering the skywriting to give it realistic or vapor-like appearance.04-01-2010
