20090255796DIFFERENTIAL ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM FOR PRESSURE SWITCHES - A calibration mechanism for setting the tripping point of a microswitch in a pressure switch has a lower collar fixed to the upper end of the pressure switch push rod, and an upper collar disposed above the lower collar and adapted to actuate the trigger of the microswitch when raised a sufficient distance above the lower collar. The upper and lower collars each have a threaded bore, each with a different thread pitch, plus guide means for keeping the threaded bores aligned for receiving a double-threaded adjustment screw having an upper section threaded to engage the upper collar's threaded bore, and a lower end threaded to engage the lower collar's threaded bore. Due to the different thread pitches, rotation of the adjustment screw will cause gradual movement of the upper collar either toward or away from the lower collar, thus facilitating fine adjustment of the microswitch trigger point. The calibration mechanism may also include a reset mechanism, operable on similar principles to set the mieroswitch's reset point.10-15-2009

20100331952METHOD FOR FILTERING EMBOLIC MATERIAL - The method comprises the steps of advancing a guidewire from a first intermediate location to a further intermediate location which is proximal of the treatment location and, subsequently, advancing a medical device over the guidewire toward the further intermediate location. The method may comprise repeating these steps for additional intermediate locations. In one case the treatment location is in the carotid artery. The treatment location may be at or adjacent to the carotid bifurcation. An intermediate location may be at or adjacent to the aortic arch. An intermediate location may be at or adjacent to the carotid take-off. The medical device may be delivered over the guidewire using a delivery catheter. The delivery catheter and the medical device may be advanced through the vasculature without the use of a guide catheter.12-30-2010

20120035717Catheter Assembly with Valve Crimping Accessories - Valve delivery catheter assemblies including components that limit trauma to the expanded prosthetic valve and body channels as the distal tip of the catheter is withdrawn through the expanded valve and thereafter from the body. In one embodiment, a catheter assembly according to the present invention includes a handle assembly, an introducer sheath, and a distal tip assembly. The handle assembly can include a fixed main handle and two or more rotating handles that allow a user to control the distal tip assembly of the catheter. A valve retaining mechanism can be included to assist in retaining the prosthetic valve prior to deployment. Each control knob on the handle assembly controls a portion of the components on the distal tip of the catheter by allowing for precise manipulation of various delivery shafts. Each delivery shaft extends from the handle assembly to respective positions towards the distal end of the catheter.02-09-2012

20120158129SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR POSITIONING A HEART VALVE USING VISUAL MARKERS - A valve retainer is connected to an elongate delivery member. The valve retainer is configured to releasably secure a prosthesis (e.g., a heart valve prosthesis) to the delivery member during delivery to a target site in a body (e.g., a native valve annulus). The valve retainer includes a rotational identifier that identifies the rotational orientation of the valve retainer when the valve retainer is positioned proximate to the target site. A heart valve prosthesis can include a commissural post that has a predetermined rotational position relative to the rotational identifier, such that the heart valve prosthesis can be rotationally aligned with the native commissures of the native valve by rotating the delivery member and the valve retainer until the commissural post is aligned with a native valve commissure and the rotational identifier is visible.06-21-2012

20120103840Tray for Loading a Medical Device - An embodiment of the present invention includes a tray and a method for loading a medical device on a catheter assembly. The tray can include a tray body defining a first receptacle for seating the handle assembly of the catheter assembly, an elongate receptacle for seating a delivery shaft of the catheter assembly, and a reservoir for holding a fluid. A portion of the elongate receptacle slopes downward towards the reservoir. The reservoir has a bottom surface that is below a portion of the elongate receptacle that is contiguous with the reservoir. Accordingly, when the reservoir is filled with a fluid and the catheter assembly is seated in the first receptacle and the elongate receptacle, the distal tip of the catheter assembly is submerged in the fluid in the reservoir. The tray body is also configured to prevent movement of a catheter assembly seated therein.05-03-2012

20100162620Optimization of Algal Product Production through Uncoupling Cell Proliferation and Algal Product Production - In algae, the conditions for optimal production of biomass are different than the optimal conditions for oil/lipid production. Conventional processes require that both steps be optimized simultaneously which is necessarily sub optimal. The invention provides systems and processes for optimizing each type of production separately and independently, thereby improving overall production of oil, lipids and other useful products. This process is advantageous because it allows the optimization of the individual steps and growth phases in the production of oil from biomass. This allows the use of different feedstocks for various process steps.07-01-2010
