20100278103SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVE CONTROL OF AN AVERAGING PARAMETER FOR PCINR AND RSSI - A system and method for adaptive control of an averaging parameter in a communications network may include an averaging parameter adaptive control module (APAC) that is associated with a base station and that includes one or more processors configured to generate a first averaging parameter that is transmitted by the base station to a mobile station communicating with the base station. The mobile station may use the first averaging parameter to generate first channel condition information that indicates a condition of a communication channel. First feedback information including the first channel condition information may be received at the base station. The APAC may generate a second averaging parameter using the first averaging parameter and the first feedback information and may transmit the second averaging parameter from the base station to the mobile station, thereby adaptively controlling the second averaging parameter based on the first feedback information.11-04-2010
20100278160SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HYBRID SCHEMES OF MIMO MODE DECISION - A system and method a hybrid scheme of mode decision in a network having a plurality of mobile stations communicably coupled to a base station may include a mode decision module associated with the base station. The mode decision module may include one or more processors configured to select a first mode configuration for use during transmission of a first communication from the base station, receive first feedback information comprising a first mode recommendation and first channel information, identify a first system state of the first communication based at least in part on the first condition information, determine whether to use the first mode recommendation configuration based at least in part on the first system state, and configure the second communication using a second mode configuration based on the determination.11-04-2010
20100281322SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DYNAMIC HYBRID AUTOMATIC REPEAT REQUEST (HARQ) ENABLE/DISABLE - A system and method of increasing data throughput in a wireless communications network between a base station (BS) and one or more mobile stations (MS) includes establishing a service flow (SF) and initially enabling a hybrid automated repeat request (HARQ) protocol; determining, at a particular time, the measure of quality of the communications channel; comparing the determined measure of quality with a predetermined channel quality threshold; and selectively disabling the HARQ protocol based upon a first comparison result while continuing the SF between the BS and MS. In other aspects, after selectively disabling the HARQ protocol, the method further includes determining that the time-varying measure of quality of the communications channel has deteriorated below the predetermined channel quality threshold; and selectively re-enabling the HARQ protocol in the established SF.11-04-2010
20110010771DETECTING A DENIAL OF SERVICE ATTACK - A plurality of ranging processes are performed to monitor a status of a wireless link associated with a device identifier. A ranging request that includes the device identifier and a message skip indicator is received. It is determined that the device identifier is already associated with the wireless link. A duration since a previously completed ranging process is determined. Based on the duration, and the message skip indicator, it is determined whether to respond to the ranging request.01-13-2011
20110026454WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A method of operating a communication system comprises exchanging initial communications between a wireless communication device and a communication network over a wireless connection between the wireless communication device and a network access system and over a network connection between the wireless device and the communication network. The method further comprises, in response to a loss of the network connection due to a deterioration of the wireless connection, determining if a partial network entry process is possible to regain the connection, and if the partial network entry process is possible to regain the network connection, performing the partial network entry process. The method further comprises, in response to an improvement of the wireless connection and upon regaining the network connection, exchanging new communications between the wireless communication device and the communication network over the wireless connection and the network connection.02-03-2011
20110026455WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A method of operating a communication system comprises exchanging initial communications between a wireless communication device and a communication network over a wireless connection between the wireless communication device and a network access system and a network connection between the wireless communication device and the communication network. The method further comprises performing a plurality of ranging processes to monitor a status of the wireless connection. Upon successfully completing a ranging process of the plurality of ranging processes, the method comprises determining a duration elapsed since the last successful ranging process and processing the duration to determine if the duration satisfies a criteria. The method further comprises, if the duration does not satisfy the criteria, then setting the indicator to indicate that a partial entry process is required to regain the network connection, and in response to the deterioration of the wireless link, processing the indicator to determine if the partial network entry process is required to regain the network connection.02-03-2011
20110034193CHANNEL CONDITION BASED SIGNAL QUALITY FEEDBACK BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION - A first amount of bandwidth is allocated to a first wireless device to send signal quality information to a base station. Based on a first indicator of wireless link conditions associated with the first wireless device, and a second indicator of wireless link conditions associated with a second wireless device, a second amount of bandwidth is allocated to the first wireless device to send signal quality information to the base station.02-10-2011
20110038324SYSTEM AND METHOD PROVIDING VARIOUS PILOT SUB-CARRIER DENSITIES IN OFDMA COMMUNICATIONS - A method for varying pilot sub-carrier density in OFDMA communications is described. The method comprises calculating channel quality from sub-carriers; determining whether the channel quality is outside a threshold range; selecting a different pilot sub-carrier density for a sub-zone based on the value of the channel quality when the channel quality is outside the threshold range; and setting the sub-zone to the different pilot sub-carrier density. A system for using sub-zones with different pilot sub-carrier densities in OFDMA communications is also described.02-17-2011
