20110123293 | NUT AND BOLT COVER - A nut and bolt cover apparatus is preferably made from three pieces. A cover piece may be placed over a nut and may have an adapter piece placed over the cover. An exterior cover may be releasably attached to the adapter piece and may squeeze a portion of the adapter piece as the exterior cover is releasably attached to the adapter. Squeezing the adapter piece preferably compresses the cover piece and causes the cover piece to grip the nut of a nut and bolt assembly while the adapter piece grips the cover piece. Removing the exterior cover may relieve the compression forces causing the adapter piece to grip the cover piece and the cover piece to grip a nut, thus permitting the nut and bolt cover apparatus to be removed. | 05-26-2011 |

20090260922 | Distance limiting self-retractable lifeline - A self-retractable lifeline (“SRL”) having the combination of an active fall arrest braking system and a passive restraint distance limiting mechanism that allows a user to pretension and preset the distance that its cable is capable of paying out. The SRL's cable limiting mechanism includes a pretension assembly, which may include a pair of aligned plates and an actuator that temporarily mobilizes an arbor when the lever is opened. The arbor is affixed to the SRL housing and to an interior of a power spring that rewinds the cable back into the housing when the cable is paid out. The other end of the arbor is in a mechanical relationship to one of the aligned plates that prohibits rotational movement of the arbor when the aligned plates are engaged but allows rotational movement of the arbor when the aligned plates are temporarily disengaged. When pretensioning of the power spring is desired, the actuator is activated and a tension is applied onto at least one of the aligned plates to temporarily disengage them and to temporarily mobilize the arbor. As the arbor is affixed to the interior of the power spring, the number of rotational turns that the arbor makes causes the power spring to “pretension” and thereby limits the maximum cable payout by the number of turns. The active braking system for fall arrest is independent of the cable limiting mechanism. The SRL may optionally include a mechanism affixed to the opposite end of the arbor to reduce or eliminate overtensioning due to human error. | 10-22-2009 |

20110006083 | Dispensing actuator with flip-open lid - A dispensing actuator for use on a container having pressurized contents is configured for convenient one-handed manipulation and use by consumers. The dispensing actuator includes a hingedly moveable flip-open lid, and a laterally moveable opening element, which can be manipulated so that the opening element cooperates with the lid to move the lid from a closed position to an opened position. The present dispensing actuator further includes an inner, downwardly deflectable actuating element, operatively connected with a dispensing valve of the associated container. Resilient, downward deflection of the actuating element, after opening of the dispensing actuator lid, permits the contents of the container to be conveniently dispensed. In one embodiment, the contents of the container are dispensed generally laterally of the dispensing actuator, while in alternate embodiments, the container's contents are dispensed generally upwardly, through the actuating element of the dispensing actuator. | 01-13-2011 |

20100280765 | SENSING USING POLARIZATION DIVERSITY AND WAVELENGTH DEPENDENT BACKSCATTER - Provided herein are systems and methods capable of detecting and discriminating and/or classifying hazardous biological agents or other hazardous agents. In one aspect, a system measures electromagnetic energy scattered by a material at the different polarizations states and wavelengths. The system then combines the measured electromagnetic wavelengths at the different polarization states and wavelengths into different combinations to produce input parameters for a classifier. The input parameters include both depolarization and wavelength-dependent back scattering measurements of the material illuminated by transmitted electromagnetic energy. The depolarization measurement provides information on the shape and absorption features of the material and the wavelength-dependent information provides information on the shape and index of refraction of the material. The combined measurements provided in the input parameters increases the information available to the classifier to classify materials, enabling the classifier to classify a wider range of materials. | 11-04-2010 |

20090028172 | SPECULATIVE FORWARDING IN A HIGH-RADIX ROUTER - A system and method for speculative forwarding of packets received by a router, wherein each packet includes phits and wherein one or more phits include a cyclic redundancy code (CRC). A packet is received and phits of the packet are forwarded to router logic. A cyclic redundancy code for the packet is calculated and compared to the packet's cyclic redundancy code. An error is generated if the cyclic redundancy codes don't match. If the cyclic redundancy codes don't match, a phit of the packet is modified to reflect the error, the CRC is corrected and the corrected CRC is forwarded to the router logic along with the phit reflecting the CRC error. At the router logic, a check is made to see if the packet is still within the router logic. If the packet is still within the router logic and there was a CRC error, the packet is discarded. If, however, the packet is no longer within the router logic and there was a CRC error, the packet is modified so that the next router discards the packet. | 01-29-2009 |

20100211389 | System of communication employing both voice and text - The disclosed invention comprises a method of communication that integrates both speech to text technology and text to speech technology. In its simplest form, one user employs a communication device having means for converting vocal signals into text; this converted text is then sent to the other user. This recipient is presented with the sender's text and to respond, he can enter text which is then output to the first user as speech sounds. This system creates an opportunity for two users to carry on a conversation, one using his voice (and hearing a synthesized voice in response) and the other using text (and receiving speech rendered as text): the first user has a voice conversation; the second user has a text based conversation. This system allows a user to select his preferred method of communication, regardless of the selection of his communication partner. | 08-19-2010 |

20080204850 | Persistent Electro-Optic Devices and Processes for Optical Media - An optical media is provided with an associated persistent electrochromic material. The electrochromic material has at least two states. In a first state, the electrochromic material interferes with the ability of an interrogating laser beam to read data from the optical media, and in a second state, the electrochromic material is substantially transparent, enabling the laser beam to read the disc. Advantageously, the persistent electrochromic material holds a desired optical state without the application of external power. The persistent time period may extend for days, weeks, or years depending on particular constructions, and on application requirements. The optical media has an integrated circuit, which is used to cause the electrochromic material to transition from a first state to the second state. In one example, an integrated circuit acts as the powering circuit for the electrochromic material, as well as providing logic and processing functions. The integrated circuit also couples to an RF antenna, enabling the integrated circuit to communicate with an associated RF scanning device. | 08-28-2008 |
