20090230063STANDPIPE WITH INTEGRATED REGULATOR VALVE - An apparatus, system, and method for bypassing a fuel filter pressure regulation valve which includes a bypass window and bypass passage. The bypass passage window is positioned in the top of a standpipe of a filter. The filter includes a filter cartridge with top and bottom end plates. The top end plate of the filter cartridge has a hole to receive a standpipe. The top end plate also has a sealing gasket to seal the bypass passage window when the proper filter cartridge is in place. This arrangement exposes the regulator valve to the fuel and/or air at the top of the filter housing when the proper filter cartridge is in place. Pressure in the housing opens the valve, allowing air and/or fuel to be vented through the bypass passage and back to the fuel tank.09-17-2009
20100108591Filter with Installation Integrity and Magnetic Flow-Control - A filter with installation integrity permits fluid flow only in a first installation condition and not in a second undesired or mis-installation condition, including improper alignment or mounting of a filter element in a housing, an incorrect replacement filter element, absence of a filter element, and an incorrect housing cover. A magnetically actuated valve has a piston controlling fluid flow according to installation condition.05-06-2010
20110006017DUAL STAGE FILTRATION WITH BARRIER FOR FUEL WATER SEPARATION - A dual stage filter includes an outer filter with a first media and an inner filter with a second media. A barrier is between the first media and the second media. The barrier directs fluid flow between the first and second media. The barrier creates a flow path between the first and second media, such that a working fluid, which is desired to pass through the first and second media, is directed by the barrier and flows through the second media, and such that another fluid, which is not desired to pass through the second media, is directed by the barrier and separates from the working fluid. Using the barrier, the dual stage filter can employ either or both upward flow and downward flow to achieve efficient fluid separation, for example fuel water separation in an engine fuel filter.01-13-2011
20110124941Surface Coalescers - Disclosed are coalescers, systems, and methods for coalescing a mixture of two phases, namely a continuous phase and a dispersed phase. The disclosed coalescers, systems, and methods include or utilize one or more layers of media material having a distinct mean pore size and wettability. The disclosed coalescers, systems, and methods are effective for removing the dispersed phase from the mixture.05-26-2011
20110168647Modular Filter Elements for Use in a Filter-in-Filter Cartridge - Disclosed are modular filter-in-filter elements, namely an outer filter element and an inner filter element which may be assembled to form a filter cartridge for use in separation methods and systems. The outer filter element typically functions as a coalescing element and the inner element typically functions as a particulate filter element. The disclosed filter cartridges may be structured for separating water from a hydrocarbon-based liquid fuel as the fuel moves through the cartridge from outside to inside.07-14-2011
20110233152Multi-Layer Coalescing Media Having a High Porosity Interior Layer and Uses Thereof - Disclosed are coalescing media for coalescing a mixture of two phases, namely a continuous phase and a dispersed phase. The disclosed coalescing media has multiple layers with distinct porosities, where an interior layer of the coalescing media has a higher porosity than the layers immediately adjacent to the interior layer. The disclosed media may be utilized in coalescers, coalescing systems, or coalescing methods for removing the dispersed phase from the mixture.09-29-2011
20110259088HIGH WATER CONTENT FUEL DETECTION SYSTEM - A water detection system in a fuel delivery system of an engine that helps to limit the occurrence of water related corrosion or damage to various engine components by detecting if a fuel supply has a high level of water content, and providing a notice that appropriate action should be taken. The system includes a fuel filtration module, a water sensor to sense high water content of a fuel supply, and a control device connected to the water sensor and receiving inputs therefrom relating to the water sensed by the sensor. The system also includes an indication source connected to the control device for communicating that a problem with the fuel exists if high water content is detected.10-27-2011
20110259802MULTI-CONDUCTOR WATER IN FUEL SENSOR FOR FILL RATE DETECTION - A water sensor for a fuel filtration apparatus includes a main body with at least one electrical contact disposed proximate the first end of the main body. The electrical contact(s) is operatively connectable to an electronic control unit. Multiple sensor contacts are disposed proximate a second end of the main body. The sensor contacts are configured to detect multiple water levels and provide an output on each water level detected. The electrical contact is configured to send the output to an electronic control unit. The water level information provided by the water sensor can be tracked by a control device to determine if the fill rate of water meets an alarm value.10-27-2011
