20090254325MANAGEMENT OF MEASUREMENT DATA BEING APPLIED TO RESERVOIR MODELS - A data management toolkit for acquiring measurement data regarding hydrocarbon wells and reservoirs, from a database, and processing that data for application to a reservoir model. The data management toolkit is implemented as a web-based application, accessible from remote workstations. The reservoir engineer configures the data management toolkit to acquire measurement data and previously calculated parameter values over a date range, for one or more wells, and also specifies various processing options including filtering, averaging, and the like. Events, such as RFT tests and pressure build-up analyses, may also be included. The web-based data management toolkit is executed on a web server to acquire and process that data, and to then update model files accordingly.10-08-2009

20080270337RULE PROCESSING SYSTEM - A rule processing apparatus includes modules for defining/entering attributes, enumerations, and/or relationships; packaging the definitions in a reduced canonical form suitable for propositional logic manipulation using zero-suppressed binary decision diagrams (Zdd) to produce a prime Zdd; and/or (iii) executing the rule by applying a series of user inputs to the prime Zdd to determine a result that preferably includes conflict and selection advice to guide the user to satisfaction. Elective events, such as but not limited to the display of messages or the performance of calculations, may optionally be packaged along with the prime rule or components thereof, and presented during execution to help guide the end user to satisfaction or compliancy when choosing among possible selections. The apparatus automates determination of a complex rule having a combinatorial exploded number of rule components, or a combinatorial number of possible outcomes, exceeding computational capacity of present day computing systems.10-30-2008
20090313201METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CAPTURING BUSINESS RULES FOR AUTOMATED DECISION PROCESSION - A rule packaging system and method to define and/or package parameters, attributes, enumerations of a prime rule in a reduced canonical form suitable for propositional logic manipulation using, for example, zero-suppressed binary decision diagrams. The reduced form of the prime rule is subsequently used by applying a series of user inputs to determine a result that preferably includes conflict and selection advice to guide the user to satisfaction. Elective events, such as but not limited to the display of messages or the performance of calculations, may optionally be packaged along with the prime rule or components thereof, and presented during execution to help guide an end user to satisfaction or compliancy when choosing among possible configuration parameters. The apparatus automates determination of a complex rule having a combinatorial exploded number of rule components, or a combinatorial number of possible outcomes, exceeding computational capacity of present day computing systems.12-17-2009
20100318476RULE PROCESSING METHOD AND APPARATUS PROVIDING AUTOMATIC USER INPUT SELECTION - An improvement in decision automation employing a ZDD rule model indicative of a business or engineering rule to provide decision support to a user. The computer-implemented improvement automatically identifies compliant inputs for the rule processing system according to at least one input initially supplied by a user, and is particularly useful for determining product configuration, engineering designs, various outcome of planning scenarios, etc. Once a user selects an initial value(s), remaining compliant values unique to the user-selected value(s) are automatically identified. The improvement reduces time required to manually select inputs. In one embodiment, the improvement includes an I/O interface to enable the user to choose and observe inputs, an autoselect ZDD constructed from compliant inputs of the rule model, and a ZDD processing module that processes said autoselect ZDD in order to provide for the user a set compliant inputs for the ZDD rule model according to the user input. The automatic input selection routine may be executed at decision automation runtime, or executed and stored a priori for subsequent processing during runtime.12-16-2010

20100206399PROTECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD - The invention provides a protection system for a fluid compartment of variable volume. The protection system comprises a detection means for detecting when the volume of the fluid compartment is outside a predetermined acceptable limit. The protection system also comprises a valve arrangement mountable on at least one port that is in selective fluid communication with the fluid compartment. The protection system further comprises an actuator, wherein the detection means is coupled to the valve arrangement via the actuator. When the detection means detects that the volume of the fluid compartment is outside the predetermined limit, the actuator causes the valve arrangement to change state and alters the volume of the fluid compartment. The protection system can be used with a compensator to protect a movable part of the compensator from damage.08-19-2010
