| 20120021448 | METHOD FOR EVALUATING STATE OF CELLS - Provided are a novel marker of the state of cells and the differentiation level of the same which is usable as a substitute for a gene or a protein; a means for quantitatively understanding this marker; and a means for understanding the state of specific cells and the differentiation level of the same using this marker. A method for determining a sugar chain category to be used for evaluating the state of cells. The quantitative profile of N-linked sugar chains of cells before a change in the state thereof is obtained. Next, the quantitative profile of N-linked sugar chains contained in the cells after the change in the state thereof is obtained. Sugar chains showing variations in the contents thereof between these two quantitative profiles are extracted and the individual sugar chains contained in the extracted sugar chains are classified into the following categories based on sugar chain type: either the high-mannose type or the non-high-mannose type; (1) the presence/absence of a bisect; (2) the number fucose residues (0, 1, or 2 or more); (3) the presence/absence of sialic acid; and (4) the degree of branching (2 or 3 or more). From these five categories, a sugar chain category appropriate for evaluating the state of cells is determined. A method for evaluating the state of cells and the differentiation of cells using the thus determined sugar chain category. | 01-26-2012 |

| 20110181895 | IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD - Conventionally in a case of storing image data in an HDD, JPEG compression is executed to the image data for reducing the data size thereof and then the image data is stored. However, there are some cases where when the JPEG compression is executed to the image data including the copy-forgery-inhibited pattern and the like, degradation in image quality occurs. In regard to the image data including the copy-forgery-inhibited pattern and the like, the halftone processing is executed by the halftone processing unit without irreversible compression. Therefore, the image data can be stored in the HDD and like in a state of being small in a data size and with the image degradation restricted. | 07-28-2011 |

| 20110033910 | CELL SELECTION APPARATUS, AND CELL SELECTION METHOD USING THE SAME - The cell selection apparatus includes: a cell selection vessel which has a pair of electrodes and a sheet-like insulating material having a plurality of micropores, with a recognition molecule bindable to the specific substance being disposed on a bottom face of the micropore; and a power supply, wherein the power supply includes a cell-immobilization power supply and a cell-taking power supply. The cell selection method uses the cell selection apparatus, including; introducing cells into a cell selection area; immobilizing these cells in the micropores; effecting a binding reaction between the specific substance and the recognition molecule; thereafter, taking out a cell of which the specific substance is not or is weakly bound to the recognition molecule, from the micropore; otherwise alternatively, leaving a cell of which the specific substance on the surface of the cell is strongly bound to the recognition molecule, behind in the micropore. | 02-10-2011 |
