Method and System for Filtering a Signal and for Providing Echo Cancellation - The present invention provides for adaptive filters that have improved computational and memory bandwidth proprieties. When applied to telecommunication applications, the present invention additionally provides for improved methods and systems of canceling echoes. In one embodiment of the adaptive filter of the present invention, a filter, preferably an adaptive finite impulse response (FIR) filter, of an appropriate length, N, is chosen. Once the filter is chosen, convergence is achieved and the filter is converted to an infinite impulse response (IIR) filter. In the course of operation, data is received from an input source and used to adapt the zeroes of the IIR filter using the least means square (LMS) approach, keeping the poles fixed. The adaptation process generates a set of converged filter coefficients that are then applied to the input signal to create a modified signal used to filter the data. The novel adaptive filter method and system presented herein can be used to improve the calculation of the echo impulse response by, among other things, reducing the computational complexity and memory requirements of the coefficient calculation conducted within the adaptive filter. | 04-14-2011

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTEGRATED ATM SURVEILLANCE - A method and apparatus for integrated ATM surveillance of an area of interest, such as an automated teller machine (ATM), is presented. An embodiment includes a surveillance system for an ATM utilizing multiple cameras aimed at the user, the card slot, the cash dispenser, the surrounding areas and internally in the card reader (to link the card used to the ATM user). The cameras are constantly powered and begin to record images after a sensor is activated. A buffer of recorded imagery is maintained such that when the sensors are activated, the video processing equipment can store a pre-defined amount of time before the sensor is activated. The buffer allows for the video capture of events just prior to the activation of the sensor. A time stamp and any other relevant data from the cameras may also be included with the stored recorded video. | 08-13-2009

Analog-to-digital converter - A lookahead pipelined ADC architecture uses open-loop residue amplifiers with calibration. This approach is able to achieve a high-speed, high-accuracy ADC with reduced power consumption. In one aspect, an ADC pipeline unit includes a plurality of lookahead pipeline stages (i.e., an ADC lookahead pipeline) coupled to a calibration unit. The ADC lookahead pipeline uses open-loop residue amplifiers. The calibration unit compensates for non-linearity in the open-loop amplifiers. | 10-01-2009

High-Speed Receiver Architecture - A receiver (e.g., for a 10 G fiber communications link) includes an interleaved ADC coupled to a multi-channel equalizer that can provide different equalization for different ADC channels within the interleaved ADC. That is, the multi-channel equalizer can compensate for channel-dependent impairments. In one approach, the multi-channel equalizer is a feedforward equalizer (FFE) coupled to a Viterbi decoder, for example a sliding block Viterbi decoder (SBVD); and the FFE and/or the channel estimator for the Viterbi decoder are adapted using the LMS algorithm. | 10-02-2008

Multi-Channel Equalization to Compensate for Impairments Introduced by Interleaved Devices - A system includes a time-interleaved device. An equalizer effectively can apply different equalization to different interleaved channels. For convenience, these equalizers will be referred to as multi-channel equalizers. In one aspect, an apparatus includes an interleaved device having M interleaved channels, and a multi-channel equalizer coupled to the interleaved device. The multi-channel equalizer is capable of applying a different equalization to different interleaved channels, thus compensating for channel-dependent impairments. | 03-10-2011
