20110216127PRINTHEAD WIPING SYSTEM - A maintenance system for maintaining a stationary printhead is disclosed. The maintenance system includes a porous wiper element movable longitudinally past the printhead. The wiper element contacts the printhead during movement in at least one direction of longitudinal movement. A pump is included for pumping liquid into the wiper element. A rotating means is included for spinning the wiper element to thereby spin liquid and contaminants from the wiper element. By spinning the wiper element the wetness thereof is reset to a known condition. Advantageously the wetness of the wiper element is then set to a desired level by controlling the amount of liquid pumped by the pump into the wiper element. In order to clean the wiper element, the wiper element is saturated with liquid before spinning the wiper element again, followed by another spinning operation. Other levels of wetness include a level for rehydrating the printhead, and another level for wiping the printhead.09-08-2011

20100074858Novel iodinated resin manufacturing process and product - The invention provides a novel method for manufacturing iodinated resin particulates that have widespread utility as disinfectants. The invention also provides novel iodinated demand disinfectant iodinated resins that have superior properties than resins known in the art. The novel manufacturing process of the current invention is highly efficient and environmentally friendly and is conducted without the presence of water. Additionally, the manufacturing process produces iodinated resins that have better overall biological performance than resins produced by prior art methods owing to higher degrees of iodine in the manufactured resin particulates and higher degrees of uniformity of iodine content when comparing particulate to particulate.03-25-2010

20090165760OPERATING A TURBO CHARGED DIESEL ENGINE - A method of operating a turbo charged diesel engine is provided where a viscosity increasing component in a diesel fuel composition is used, to improve the acceleration performance, at low engine speeds (for example up to 2200 rpm). This method may be used for reducing the engine speed at which the turbo charger reaches its maximum speed when accelerating at low engine speeds, or reducing the time taken for the turbo charger to reach its maximum speed. It may mitigate a deterioration in the acceleration performance of the engine due to another cause. The VK 40 of the resultant fuel composition is suitably 2.8 mm07-02-2009
20090241882METHOD FOR INCREASING THE VISCOSITY OF AUTOMOTIVE FUEL COMPOSITIONS - A certain viscosity index (VI) improving additive may be used to increase the viscosity of an autoamotive fuel composition, by an amount greater than that which theory would have predicted to occur to improve the acceleration performance of an internal combustion engine into which the fuel composition is introduced. The fuel composition is suitably a diesel fuel composition, and the additive suitably comprises a block copolymer which contains one or more monomer blocks selected from ethylene, propylene, butylene, butadiene, isoprene and styrene monomers. The additive is preferably used in the composition at a concentration of 0.5 % w/w or lower.10-01-2009
20100000483GASOLINE COMPOSITIONS - The present invention provides a method for decreasing the vapour pressure of a gasoline composition comprising admixing with a gasoline base fuel, from 0.5 to 30 vol. %, based on the overall gasoline composition, of ethyl valerate.01-07-2010
20100000484LIQUID FUEL COMPOSITIONS - The present invention provides a liquid fuel composition comprising a major portion of a base fuel suitable for use in an internal combustion engine and from 0.5 to 25 vol %, based on the liquid fuel composition, of a C1-C5 hydrocarbyl valerate ester composition.01-07-2010

20100020792Media Proxy Able to Detect Blocking - A media proxy receive a first message from a near end of a path of a communications session, and before receiving a corresponding message from a far end, the media proxy is arranged to detect a blocking situation where another device in the path is awaiting the first message before forwarding the corresponding message. Detecting such a blocking situation enables it to be overcome, and enables the communication session to proceed. The media proxy can send a probe message to discover if there is another media proxy along the path causing the blocking. This is useful where the only information about the far end is the media path which is in the call set up, e.g. IP address and port. Sending the probe message can be under the control of a call server.01-28-2010

20100011346CONTROL CHART TECHNIQUE FOR ANALYZING SOFTWARE ENGINEERING ACTIVITIES AFFECTED BY INTRINSIC PROCESS VARIATION AND STATISTICAL FLUCTUATIONS - In software engineering, the performance or efficiency of individual process steps is typically defined as some sort of rate such as the number of detected defects divided by the effort spent for review or testing. In this situation, the variation in tie data always reflects a mixture of intrinsic process variation caused by, for example, human factors such as the experience of reviewers or the variable quality of the review objects, and purely statistical variation due to the effects of Poisson statistics when defects are counted. Due to this mixture of causes of variation no conventional statistical process control chart holds for the constraints of typical software engineering processes. A new statistical process control (SPC) approach (method and system) is presented to overcome the mentioned problems.01-14-2010

20090035791Neural Colony Forming Assay - A neural colony forming cell (NCFC) assay is described. The assay allows one to distinguish neural stem cells from neural progenitor cells. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method for identifying neural stem cells or neural progenitor cells comprising: (a) suspending neural cells in a semi-solid medium which supports the growth of neural cells; (b) plating the cells in the semi-solid medium at a density that allows for the production of colonies; (c) culturing the plated cells until size differences can be discerned between the colonies; and (d) estimating colony size wherein the larger colonies are likely produced by neural stem cells and wherein the small colonies are likely produced by neural progenitor cells In alternate embodiments, NSC can be distinguished from neural progenitor cells by determining the morphology or antigen expression of the colonies.02-05-2009
