20110247549METHODS AND APPARATI FOR MAKING THIN SEMICONDUCTOR BODIES FROM MOLTEN MATERIAL - A pressure differential is applied across a mold sheet and a semiconductor (e.g. silicon) wafer is formed thereon. Relaxation of the pressure differential allows release of the wafer. The mold sheet may be cooler than the melt. Heat is extracted almost exclusively through the thickness of the forming wafer. The liquid and solid interface is substantially parallel to the mold sheet. The temperature of the solidifying body is substantially uniform across its width, resulting in low stresses and dislocation density and higher crystallographic quality. The mold sheet must allow flow of gas through it. The melt can be introduced to the sheet by: full area contact with the top of a melt; traversing a partial area contact of melt with the mold sheet, whether horizontal or vertical, or in between; and by dipping the mold into a melt. The grain size can be controlled by many means.10-13-2011

20080200783METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROL OF SKIN PERFUSION FOR INDIRECT GLUCOSE MEASUREMENT - A method and apparatus for noninvasive glucose measurement measures glucose indirectly from the natural response of tissue to variations in analyte concentration. The indirect measurement method utilizes factors affected by or correlated with the concentration of glucose, such as refractive index, electrolyte distribution or tissue scattering. Measurement reliability is greatly improved by stabilizing optical properties of the tissue at the measurement site, thus blood perfusion rates at the sample site are regulated. Perfusion is monitored and stabilized by spectroscopically measuring a control parameter, such as skin temperature, that directly affects perfusion. The control parameter is maintained in a range about a set point, thus stabilizing perfusion. Skin temperature is controlled using a variety of means, including the use of active heating and cooling elements, passive devices, such as thermal wraps, and through the use of a heated coupling medium having favorable heat transfer properties. 08-21-2008

20110161290DATA CACHING FOR MOBILE APPLICATIONS - Systems, methods, computer program product embodiments and combinations and sub-combinations thereof for data caching and cache synchronization are described herein. An embodiment includes comparing data in a cache with data stored at a data source and determining database operations needed to synchronize one or more partitions of the cache with the data source. Each cache partition is associated with mobile business object (MBO) metadata of a distinct mobile device and the determined database operations are executed to synchronize the partitions with the data source. By refreshing only those partitions which are pertinent to a given device, embodiments of the invention may increase parallelism by allowing multiple partitions to refresh concurrently. The embodiment further comprises reviewing a caching policy associated with the cache. The caching policy may be selected in a manner that reduces data traffic and redundant requests on the data source.06-30-2011

20110316588Resistor-programmable device at low voltage - A resistor-programmable device generates pulses counted by a counter. The counter's output controls a drive signal generator, such as an adjustable current source. The drive signal generator generates a drive signal (such as a current), which leads to the creation of a sense signal (such as a voltage) using a resistance. The resistance can have one of a set of specified values or fall within one of a set of specified windows. The resistor-programmable device can convert the resistance value into a digital value, which can be used to set a sensor trip point threshold or some other parameter. The digital or parameter value is independent of changes in the resistance that are within a specified tolerance. For instance, the same parameter value could be selected even when the resistance varies within some tolerance (such as 1%) as the resistor-programmable device can determine the window in which the resistance falls.12-29-2011

20090099352SYNTHESIS OF OLIGONUCLEOTIDES OR PHOSPHOROTHIOATE OLIGONUCLEOTIDE WITH A CAPPING AGENT OF N-METHYLIMIDAZOLE FREE OF 1,3,5-TRIMETHYLHEXAHYDRO-1,3,5-TRIAZINE - According to the present invention, there is provided a process for making an oligonucleotide or a phosphorothioate oligonucleotide. The process has the following steps: (a) providing an amount of a blocked nucleotide; (b) deblocking the blocked nucleotide to form an unblocked nucleotide; (c) activating the deblocked nucleotide; (d) coupling the deblocked nucleotide with a phosphoramidite to form a phosphite oligomer; (e) capping any uncoupled deblocked nucleotide via reaction with an amount of acetic anhydride and an amount of N-methylimidazole that is substantially free of 1,3,5-trimethylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine; (f) oxidizing the phosphite oligomer to form the oligonucleotide or sulfurizing the phosphite oligomer to form a phosphorothioate oligonucleotide; and (g) optionally repeating steps (b) through (f). There is also a process for capping a nucleotide.04-16-2009

20090261767Universal apparatus and method for configurably controlling a heating or cooling system - A system controller is disclosed that includes a communication means for transmitting and receiving information from an installed blower motor controller, and a removable memory device connected to the system controller. The removable memory device includes system parameter information stored thereon that relates to the particular heating or cooling system, where the system parameter information includes at least motor related parameters relating to the operation of one or more types of blower motors. The system controller further includes a processor configured to receive via the communication means the communication of identifying information from the blower motor controller that identifies the type of blower motor installed in the system. The processor is configured to retrieve motor related parameters corresponding to the specific identified blower motor controller from the memory device, and to send said corresponding motor related parameters to the blower motor controller.10-22-2009
20100179700STEPPER MOTOR GAS VALVE AND METHOD OF CONTROL - A controller for a variable heating system is operable to control a stepper motor operated gas valve to adjust gas flow to vary the heating level. The controller includes a first terminal for receiving a thermostat signal requesting heating, an electronic memory, and a microprocessor in communication with the electronic memory and first terminal. The microprocessor detects a thermostat signal requesting heating, and generates a control signal for the stepper motor to operate the gas valve. The microprocessor includes a programmable read-only-memory encoded with an instruction to store a time duration during which the microprocessor detects a thermostat signal requesting heating, and further encoded with an instruction operable to determine a desired heating level based on the stored time duration. The microprocessor responds to a thermostat signal requesting heating by determining the number of steps the motor must move to vary the gas flow corresponding to the desired heating level.07-15-2010
